Why would I be upset that you don't know how to read the roster?

At least he admitted he was wrong to you. I'm waiting to see what he has to say about Beau.

Nobody gives a shite if Paul speaks his mind to his team and players in the locker room or on the practice field. But he gets off on telling the whole world how much he thinks his players suck. He's the childish one.

Yeah! Leave that to the Ranters. They will tell you when a coach sucks, even after a National Championship season or a final four season.
If a player with a bad back makes a game saving reception, and runs out of bounds, even with bad back, he is a pussy.
But don't let a coach question his effort, we know better.

I understand we got off track some. I was responding to the other poster's specific comment. In regards to Byrd, why does every player have to respond positively to an a**hole type coach?

The player should respond for his own and his team's best interest. That is what most people do. They overcome tough situations. Typically, those that succeed aren't so sensitive that they can't enjoy the game when someone is telling you things you don't like to hear…especially when those things are meant for your own improvement.

But coaches are different and players are different. I would think the adult making hundreds of thousands of dollars would be able to be the more flexible of the two

In one breath you say he treats players differently, and then in another you say he isn't flexible enough. The truth is that he, like any good coach, varies his approach not based on how the kid emotionally reacts…but based on whether or not the kids are doing the things they need to do to be successful.

He's not?

Are you assuming that Byrd is leaving because he was told things he's didn't want to hear? Because that's not how it has been portrayed from any angle.

Again, you seem to assume that PM's behavior is based on the actions of the player. I'm saying it's not. He is tough on some and not on others... Through very little if any fault of their own.

He's pretty obviously not. He's had one team that hasn't fallen apart on the biggest (or second or third biggest) stage. And many people attribute that win to the leadership of some of the older guys who were there the year before in Omaha. But So many times since, instead of being outplayed, we get outcoached or our team falls apart (usually with his help).

You coonsasses are always funny. Here things are diffrent. The Gumps and the Barn love their coaches. Over there you hate yours. Kind of strange but funny to read.

No one is surprised; it's a different version of the exact same thread that TD sees every every week either started by the same posters or hijacked by them. Nothing original ever: PM is an a-hole. PM has pets. PM publicly humiliates his players. Bad Man. Bad coach. It's a whine-a-thon.

I'm shocked that a thread about an unhappy player has discussion on why that player would be unhappy. Shocked.

Me, too.

But, what I find interesting is that there are one or two or three LSU posters that agree with his assessment. To you guys... stop posting. Go to the Alabama website. They will appreciate you more.

Exactly why I've taken a break from this place the past month or so. Maybe once fall ball starts we can actually have a discussion again but I'm sure the threads will inevitably drift off to the same tired old crap.

Ehh... I think the only senior that started in Omaha was Helenihi and even he split time with Hanover.

Sure Buzzy, Pontiff and McGhee were good "clubhouse guys" to keep things loose, but I think that team was too talented not to win it.

Ochinko and Dean were signed by Smoke too. O left after that year and Dean would have too but he wanted to get the shoulder surgery and prove he could play the field somewhere.

Dean ended up being a serviceable 1B.

Its amazing to me the amount of hate PM is taking after getting us a top 5 finish. I mean, I know the season didn't end in a title, but we were close. And while he did blow the pitching decisions in the last game, it was obvious to me we lost to a better team. (At least that's how I felt when we played TCU)

I'm really interested to see if players leaving is the start of more in the next couple years, or if this is a one time occurence. It hasn't happened alot under Mainieri really. Even though he is abrasive.
