I'm not going back through this thread, so has this question been answered?
Taking this into consideration:
Someone tell me how no matches to victims = inconclusive? Would it not just be negative for a match?
Taking this into consideration:

Results of DNA taken from suspended quarterback Jordan Jefferson and suspended linebacker Joshua Johns are inconclusive, Moore added. There were no matches to the victims, he said.

Those are total offense rankings correct? What do we looking in passing efficiency, etc

i would caution people cherry picking stats on the offense last year vs this year.

If we are greatly improved than it would be reflected in the stats wouldn't it?
Your sample sizes aren't exactly the same, so it is pretty irrelevant at this point.

Louisiana law is different from any other state in the US. You don't know if those are the questions asked here.

How exactly do we compare then? I mean, if you want to say we are greatly improved on offense you would think it would be backed up by stats.

I don't need to cherry pick stats, or even have an opinion. The facts are, the LSU offense is doing better now than at anytime in the past two years.

Those passing number include JL who accounted for a considerable amount of the passes last year.

Against BCS schools
Passing efficiency:
2010: 122.69
2011: 125.97
Rushing:
2010: 189 (4.54 ypc)
2011: 162 (3.76 ypc)
Passing:
2010: 166
2011: 156
Scoring:
2010: 27.5
2011: 29.5
3rd Down Conversions:
2010: 41%
2011: 37%
So you're comparing LSU vs Oregon/Mississippi State, 2 ranked opponents vs the entire season last year?

Compare Oregon/Mississippi State stats to LSU's 2010 games against Auburn/Mississippi State.

Against BCS schools we averaged 355 ypg last year. This year we are averaging 317. Is the offense really that improved?
The passing offense is much improved with JL as QB this year. Last year, JJ got 151 passing yards, 15/21, in the first game with North Carolina, then regressed for the next 2 games; 112 yards, 9/21, at Vanderbilt, and a mere 97 yards, 10/16, with Miss State.
JL, on the other hand, got 98 yards, 10/22, in the Duck game; 133 yards, 9/10, playing only the first half of the Northwestern State game; and 213 yards, 21/27, in the Miss State game.
Who do you think played better through the first 3 games last year and this year? It's no brainer.

VS the 11 bcs conference teams we played against. 7 of the 11 teams were ranked when we played them.
Posted on 9/19/11 at 9:47 pm to ZTiger87
quote:there are many variables youre leaving out in order to compare the teams. who did we play? where did we play? who was QB? who was the OL? RB? WR? this team is this team; you can't look at last years numbers and say if we replace player X with player Y you hey Z results. JL is the man right now and very little will Change that.
How exactly do we compare then? I mean, if you want to say we are greatly improved on offense you would think it would be backed up by stats.

Sure as hell not statistically at this point since you have a total body of work for one and 1/6 of a body of work for the other.

I can understand not wanting to compare McNeese State vs Northwestern State. Definitely would hurt your argument.
