And in what other coaching search would you define it normal for a governor to be involved. If bama had the governor involved in their coaching search you'd see it as weird.

I don’t recall Landry being involved in the coaching search, do you?

Y’all realize that without him stepping in we are still stuck with that soft leprechaun Brian Kelly.

As others have pointed out, this is absolute rubbish. Landry wasn't involved in Kelly's firing. The boosters and Woodward made the call. In fact, Landry didn't know enough to realize that the "lee-Gal-uh-tees" were already determined that we would have to pay. LSU got egg on it's face by appearing to renege on the Kelly contract.
As much as he stuck his chest out and dick where it didn't belong, nothing changed in terms of the next coaches contract. Kiffin's deal was still mega dollars with similar guarantees. He changed nothing and just showed his arse.

Hey Dumbass
Kelly got fired by Woodward. Kelly wanted to fire Brad Davis and he and Woodward got into it. His firing was over Davis.
THEN the Woodward shot went down.
No AD will EVER admit to that mistake hiring without at least 1 extra year. NONE.

This ^^^ - There are those who defend Jeff just to defend him because partisan politics is so much a part of their day-to-day lives it is ingrained in them to do so.

But he's losing a lot of Republican support I can tell you and I think those who really know how these things work with LSU athletics know his level of true involvement and those who have followed his political career know his main goal is self promotion. And even that he seems to struggle with context and what is good publicity and bad.

These are FACTS.

No they aren’t. Woodward fired Kelly and Landry had ZERO to do with it. Go frick your Landry the biggest dumbass in the western hemisphere self. His fricking arse will be with a lot of far rights after midterms - on the street.
The economy is about to crater and people are pissed about a lot of things including us older conservatives. Make no mistake, Landry is unqualified to represent a district much less a state.

You do realize political parties evolve and change over generations - and change significantly?

So why do you think Verge's son hit the portal and is getting the hell out of Dodge?

I feel like politicians get involved in most cases with major university sports decisions like this. But to be as public by going on podcasts like he did was an embarrassment for LSU and the state of Louisiana.

There's a good chance his involvement will prove to have been beneficial. Both for what he did- and DID NOT do.

Let's face it: LSU's FB Office was allowed to become more dysfunctional and stagnant as time went on.

A fish rots from the head down. Both Woodward and Kelly had to go. Without Landry's involvement, does anyone think that was going to happen anytime soon? I don't.

As it turns out, he DID NOT do what the sky screamers (in both the media and fan base(s)) all predicted he'd do: Scuttle LSU's hire. Instead, he helped facilitate it. As for the media predicting LSU's impending "disaster", they look like fools who were never in the only loop that mattered.

Now....Let the assault on the transfer portal begin.

Kelly, absolutely....Woodward....not sure one way or the other, I can tell you Landry is not the only one of influence who wanted him out.

Come up with the right amount of cash (which is still King) and that's as irrelevant as whether or not they like boiled crawfish.

We love our 90+ year old tigerdroppings posters who would probably need to be 100+ to remember him. But ok yeah sure, neat.

Well, certainly. But the biggest narrative being spun for a while was our WBB coach's "heartbreak." We all love what she's done- but righting the ship was a lot more important than her feelings.

And let's be honest: If an AD at LSU makes the wrong hire IN FOOTBALL, it doesn't matter if the other sports are winning titles. It's just the truth. Football brings the revenue. Win big- or else. That goes for the coaching staff- and the AD.

Agreed but I was speaking specifically to Landry and the supposed amount of influence he had being way overstated.
