Gore and Ware

How much do you think they play this year?
re: Gore and WarePosted by Suntiger on 2/9/10 at 9:01 am to Lee Chatelain
Not much if at all. You currently have
S. Ridley,
R. Murphy,
M. Ford and
M. Claiborne
ahead of them on the depth chart. I could see Ware getting PT if he says at running back and Murphy isn't completely healed or someone else gets injured like JV and A. Brousard did in 2003, but that's about it.

He'll be at CB. If there's anyone else to add to the list it's Drayton Calhoun, but I haven't heard much about how he's progressing. I could see some of the young guys getting in there in a limited role/change of pace type

I think you mean Calhoun here, but I agree with you. also, I think Shep's still gonna get some carries in some form or fashion.
That's right. I always mix those two up for some reason. And I also think you are right about Shep. I think he will take over that T. Holliday/P. Harvin type roll.

equal to or less than Shepard and Randle did this past season, no matter how much Ridley/Murphy struggle coming off of injury.
CS was not running as hard this year (whether that was injury, heart or weight I don't know) but we still never saw KW until we absolutely had to. He looked like the stud he's always been until he got hurt.
Do you really think anything has changed? How do you think Trent Richardson feels about his choice now?
Oh it wasn't Miles, it was LP, right? I didn't realize he was coaching WRs, too.

How many times has Miles played freshmen in the past? Don't think they see much playing time based on history. Miles loyal to upperclassmen.

If Gore is as good as some say...( I havent seen, and some say's he's comparable to McCluster) I could see him in a SP Teams role, but I still wanna see Shep Calhoun on KO, possibly RR on punt returns..
Ware, I dont think so...Sheps back, Murph, ford (who I think will get a lot) Ridley and Calhoun...Ware better be legit to play, cause next year, we'll have two guys that wont redshirt at RB....hilliard and Hill

BS
There are several guys ahead of them on the depth chart...I doubt they get much time. Maybe Gore in a special teams role, but I doubt it...I might could see kickoff return but not punt return.

Exactly. Miles has shown that time in the program means more than being a better player.

Once again, BS.
You're gonna tell me that you already know that they are better than the guys that are already here?
In case you missed it, Randle played a lot last year as a true freshman...oh, and there were players with more time in the program on the depth chart.

It has been proven since he got here. Playing Vincent and Broussard over Scott and Williams. The underutilization of Shepard this past year. Not getting Patrick Peterson into the starting line up until late 2008 when he was clearly better than the other two guys. He has a history of showing favoritism to upperclassmen. You can't deny that.

Gore - none.
Ware - 50-100 carries.
Ware - 50-100 carries.

Scott and Williams got a combined 122 carries their freshman seasons.

Yes and thats the sign of a strong organization. If you put in the work in the program, as long as the talent is close, then you've earned playing time. A young guy may have a little more talent but he has to earn playing time. Some times talent emerges or diminishes when put in a more competitive environment. You're starting from scratch when you walk on the field at this level of competition. No more stars or 160 lb FB palyers to fall back on.

If that was true, your quarterback would be J. Lee. Seriously, this is an idiotic statement.
Randall played ahead of Chris Mitchell, John Williams and J. Joseph, who were upperclassman and took over R.J. Jackson on the depth chart at season's end.
Joseph Barksdale split time with Carnell Stewart who was a RS Senior.
Richard Dickson started nine games as a true freshman over Keith Zinger and Mit Cole who were a Sr and Jr.
J. Mitchell got PT at WR as a freshman.
RJF played a lot his freshman season despite having Tyson Jackson, Chase Pittman, Kriston Pittman, Tim Washington and T. Johnson who were upperclassman.
Patrick Peterson was starting by the end of his freshman year.
Drake Nevis played a lot despite having Glenn Dorsey, M. Favorite, Charles Alexander and Al Woods ahead of him.
