I’m happy for the players that they are able to enjoy the wins. Let’s pump the brakes on this asinine playoff talk and beating Georgia/the gumps ranting.

OP is getting downvoted, but of course he's correct. 5-0 is a hell of a start, but the meat of our schedule remains, with a brutal 4-game stretch starting this week in Gainesville.

It's still WAY to early to be talking playoffs. Let's take care of business the next 3 weeks, get into November with a legit shot of winning the West, and then we can talk.

We beat two teams in the Top 10 and that means quite a bit. So, going 5-0 in September means a lot for LSU in 2018.

And before the season started, people talked about how the three weeks from Miami to Auburn were "brutal" and "could dictate the season". Of course he's correct in saying there are big games left to play, but it's a truism, and neglects that going undefeated this particular September means more than most years, as evidenced by LSU's current ranking.

It’s about to get real now. Whatever the outcome, this LSU team is stronger than last year’s squad. This season is going well and may provide the impetus to improve recruiting even more.

I think this football program is getting better.

Going undefeated in September doesn't mean "nothing." The first goal of a team is to have a winning season. Quite a number of people thought LSU would have a losing year this season. Winning 5 games in September means they only need 2 more Ws for a winning season. It also means that they are in good position to compete for the West.

Sumlin started off well a number of years, but it wasn't usually by beating ranked teams like LSU beat. And winning at Auburn in any year at any time is an accomplishment for LSU.

I actually agree with everything in your post. But I still had to down vote you because your title is crap/wrong/fake news.

Going undefeated in September means everything you want is still in play. Lose a couple in September and you have zero chance of making the playoffs.

rankings don't mean a thing at this point. In 2015, we were 7-0 and ranked no. 2, then lost 3 straight in November by double digits and ended up in the Texas Bowl.

Yes, we had a great September, no question. But all that does is keep our playoff dreams alive. This 4-game stretch of very tough games is where this season will be defined.

We've got UF on the road, UGA, Miss St, and then Bama. Playoff talk is premature. Get through that gauntlet with only 1 loss (hopefully we beat Bama to own the tiebreaker) and then we can start the playoff talk (still got to beat A&M at their place).

We're on a very good path, but Oct. 2 is still way too early.

So there’s no difference between being 5-0 and 0-5 right now? Right.

The 2nd part isn’t as much on pure reputation as much as it is for what they prove. They’re not limited teams. They can beat you in a lot of ways. That matters.

You're not, by any chance, basing that on how they played, and have gone undefeated, in September are you?

Oh really? Winning them all in September means nothing?

Yeah well...it means a hell of a lot to the team so there's that!

It also means they're zero losses closer to an undefeated season so there's that as well!

What means nothing actually, is your flippant attitude about it! So there's that!

How about YOU pump the brakes on your attempt at sounding enlightening! fricking condescending a-hole!

Kevin Sumlin @ TAMU would be all the proof I need of this

Sumlin?

Not Coach Eaux in his two seasons at LSU? John Chavis vs Dave Aranda?

Sumlin?

Sounds like you are looking hard for a reason to continue being miserable to me.

No he’s being a realist. As LSU fans we have been here before. Being ranked in the top 5 means nothing in October. Being ranked in the top ten should be the norm at LSU.

Disagree it means nothing, it means they are in a good position going into Oct and Nov. If they had loss to Miami and Auburn, would we be saying it means nothing.

It's that kind of mentality that will get you beat in September.

absolute truth ... idiotic to think it does not.
.....not just LSU...for any team to go undefeated having played Miami, Auburn, Ole Miss already.
---irrelevant of their strength this year.
