Everyone that thinks M and M will be gone, where are their draft grades???? Wait till the season plays out before you make these comments. I GUARANTEE you if they are NIT bound, I think both stay. If they make the tournament, then I think one may leave. Until then, chill the frick out.

We could have had Shaquille, Hakeem, and Chamberlain on our team, and Johnny's in bounds set plays out of timeouts would still be stab-your-eyes-with-ice-pick bad.

I get we'll be good with Simmons and Blakeney next year, but I'm not going to believe anything until I see this same story different day deal change.

Johnny has A LOT to prove as far as a game coach. He's really pathetic at such an important facet of his job.

Maybe so, but without him we would have 10 uncoordinated but well coached guys. Eventually his recruiting will make his coaching a moot point.

Elite recruiting does not make terrible coaching moot. I don't know how anyone could ever think this way.

The point is all we hear on here is JJ's shortcomings coaching on gameday with the excellent talent he has brought in and people forget the last few years of Tiger basketball when we had no talent and no shot at competing with Kentucky. This program is getting better every day with JJ and we will be at a point in which the talent will not have to rely upon him being an expert with x's and o's. For those that continually bitch about jj, would you rather we be solid fundamentally but incapable of matching Kentucky's talent?

Martins will be very high. Mickey should stay. Martin has all the talent in the world and was probably the best player on the court tonight. Mickey would barely get any time if he was in a UK uniform. I say this as a guy who loves Mickey. He's a tweener. He has good post skills, can hit the midrange jumper, but he doesnt have NBA size. UK has guys with Mickey's skills but are 7 foot.

Martin was a machine tonight which makes games like State all that more frustrating. When he wants to he can take over a game against a team of lotto picks. Scouts though see a 6'10' guy who can play the 3 and gram 10+rebounds against a team with NBA size, drive, go vertical and slam down lobs and then step out and hit jumpers with a hand in his face.

Both would be smart to stay but Martin's stock is going to be high. Frankly though Im hoping for Mickey. He fits our needs better. We will replace what Martin brings, but Mickey is really our lone true post guy that gives us any minutes. If we keep him and develop Big elbert and Craig Victor. Have a solid 3 man rotation at 4 and 5. Put Simmons at the 3. At guard you have 5 guys Jaylin Patterson TQ Hornsby Blakeney and Gray that you can rotate.

And I think there is some underestimation of how good these guys coming in will be. I love Mickey and Martin....but Simmons (especially) and Blakeney have potential to be on another level. Sounds crazy....but our guy is the consensus number one player in the country...per every source out there. . Mickey and Martin...as phenomenal as they are....are not the best players in the country....or in their classa. Its a different animal. Just watch.

I like Martin but come on he was not the best player on the court tonight..

Best players on court tonight in order IMO:
1.Towns
2.Cauley-Stein
3. the way Martin played tonight
4. Booker
5. Andrew Harrison
6. Mickey
7. the way Martin has played all year

Forget about M&M, they're gone. So exchange Simmons and Blakeney and we probably have about the same talent level. Better shooting but not as good offensive rebounding, shot blocking. A team that hopefully plays better and wins more games but . . .

Doesn't matter who leaves Kentucky. They will just reload with four or five more McDonald All Americans and they will still have better and much deeper talent than we do. Can we beat them? You bet but can we do that and not lose to teams with less talent?

As long as we don't lose Martin and Mickey, then we'll end up with the same depth problems as this year.

But, if they both return and Elbert Robertson becomes a contributor, we are going to be a scary team to play next year. From a team that can barely play 7 deep to a legit 9-10 man deep team.

For comparison...

In 2013 recruiting rankings,
Jarell Martin was rated #11 by ESPN
Jordan Mickey #38
Tim Quarterman #80
(Andrew Wiggins was #1 that year)

Coming in next year in 2014(Victor) and 2015 recruiting rankings respectively,
Craig Victor was rated #37 by ESPN
Ben Simmons is currently #1 and arguably the most hyped HS player since Lebron
Antonio Blakeney is currently #14

The regular season SEC title next year must be a close one between us and UK or Johnny is not the man for the job.. Im not giving up on him yet because look at where we are now from where we were with Trent, but he has to make a Sweet 16 next year IMO

Exactly. If one comes back we go from being a 6-man team to a 9-man team (assuming one of Epps, Malone or Robinson develops at the expected rate). That alone will improve things.

I really think at least Mickey should stay. He plays a tall 6-8 but he is still 6-8 PF and would likely not be an NBA starter anytime soon.

Martin, at 6-10 and with his skill set, has a better shot but it still seems too early for him to go. Long term, I really think it is better for both to come back.

JOB stayed the extra year, went second round to the Bucks. He's on the team but doesn't seem to be playing all that much. Martin has a higher ceiling but I'm not sure he's at JOB's level yet.

I think it would benefit the players, college BB and the NBA to institute a rule like we have in football where a player can't go pro until 3 years out of high school.

With Simmons and Blakeney ....and possibly M&M.....who's seriously favored over LSU??? We've played Kentucky well every year....we have the size (you can add Simmons there)...and the deadly shooting of Blakeney will be unreal. To say "top 10" is an understatement. I honestly believe the talent will be there for a serious run st the NC. And Johnny Jones would get a statue.

New year and same old story.

If Tim Quarterman takes another leap, LSU is going to be crazy good. The guy's energy is off the charts, even with heavy minutes.

Rump,

I'll say this, Ben Simmons is better than Koby, Michael Jorden, Magic and Lebron coming out of high school- and it aint even close!!!

His court awareness, ball handling skills at 6-10, his passing, his outside shot, everything is as solid as any player could ever be. He is a perfect ACT score in relation to a BB player. He is an equivalent of a 6 or 7 star if there would be such a thing = to once in a 50 year or Century player

With Simmons and Blakeney and one of the bigs to stay, Elbert, Malone, and another couple bigs/forwards to go along with Hornsby, Quarterman, Patterson, Gray--- you will have a final four team that could very easily win it

Starters:

Mickey F
Martin F
Simmons F
Quarterman G
Blakeney SG

If Mickey goes Pro you get Elbert off his arse and make him a player and put him in at Center. However my lineup above you have Simmons handle the ball 50% of the time with guys cutting everywhere- backdoor cuts, screening for Blakeney to get shots-WOW
