With Simmons and Blakeney
....and possibly M&M.....who's seriously favored over LSU??? We've played Kentucky well every year....we have the size (you can add Simmons there)...and the deadly shooting of Blakeney will be unreal. To say "top 10" is an understatement. I honestly believe the talent will be there for a serious run st the NC. And Johnny Jones would get a statue.

There is almost zero chance Martin and Mickey both come back.

Anybody who plays decent defense and has a coherent plan on offense.

Nobody has a clue what they're gonna do. Even if one goes...I still like LSU's chances...

bullshite Nuts. I don't think you've seen Blakeney or Simmons play. Absolutely legit. Simmons is about as close to a "can't miss" talent as LeBron was..and he's got point guard vision/skills at 6'10".. And Blakeney is deadly from deep. Probably the purest shooter in this class. Inside or outside, LSU will be tough to stop.

Have been hearing this "next year" song and dance for 3 years now with this basketball program.

We've had tournament talent the last 2 years and squandered it, what makes you think next year will be any different?

They've improved each year...but this "next year" mantra is legit. Never had this sort of talent coming in. Next year (this time) is going to be nuts. Get your season tickets now...

I will be 100% shocked if Mickey and Martin both return. One will definitely not be back IMO.

Jones would have absolutely no excuse to not make the tournament and do SERIOUS damage in it if we had MArtin, Mickey, Quarterman, Blakeney and Simmons though.

Mickey will go. Martin is probably 50/50. I still just don't have the confidence that Jones will be able to put it together. As someone said earlier this week: this team is a jigsaw puzzle with some really nice pieces but no box top to show them how to put the puzzle together

Thunder...if we had that talent, anything short of final four would be a disappointment IMO...

The team next year should be good but the sky is certainly not the limit. The limit will be set by coaching and because of that I think the ceiling is probably a NCAA Sweet 16. That would be very nice and I certainly wouldn't take it for granted at all. But a serious national championship contender? No way.

As a student in the early 80s and a fan that wants to see LSU get back to tournament level on a regular basis, I want to believe. However, without M&M next year, which seems unlikely, we're no better next season than this one. If we're somehow able to keep the big boys and add the outstanding new-comers, we should contend.

We could have had Shaquille, Hakeem, and Chamberlain on our team, and Johnny's in bounds set plays out of timeouts would still be stab-your-eyes-with-ice-pick bad.

I get we'll be good with Simmons and Blakeney next year, but I'm not going to believe anything until I see this same story different day deal change.

Johnny has A LOT to prove as far as a game coach. He's really pathetic at such an important facet of his job.

Just having blakney, simmons won't do it. We'll need more bias and more depth.

C'mon Champ, I think Shaq and Hakeem could have pushed us over the top tonight. In fact, any depth to speak of may have gotten it done. Not arguing with the coaching, but Kentucky is stupid deep. What keeps me from getting overly excited about our resurgence is the fact that we will gain a couple of outstanding talents at the same time that we lose two. Unless we somehow end up with M&M next year, we have no more depth than we had this season. If even one of those two decides to stick around, then we'll see whether our coach is an asset or liability.

Said it in another thread. Dicky V said we'd be high Top 10 preseason next year if they returned with what LSU has coming in.
