Giving up 3rd and longs is what lost us the game.

Regardless of what else happened. Gassing the defense was hard to watch.

In a one point game, everything was the reason we lost.
Muffed punts
Dropped passes
QB lack of patience
TE blocking on passes and FGs
Giving up the flea-flicker
Losing Maason Smith
Giving up 3rd and longs
Every one of these, and others, is the reason we lost.

It was like watching old saints teams

The offense, if it was better, could have won it for us. But it did not lose it for us.
I'd put special teams first. It cost us points AND field position putting the defense in tough situations AND put the defense on the field more.
I'd put the defense, especially the inability to stop them on 3rd downs as a big second.
A distant 3rd would be the defense and their big plays given up.
Fourth would be the offense. It had some dramatic fails. But if the offense had been super charged it would have saved us from the other 3.

FSU kicked our arse in every football and coaching category.

nah...a blocked FG is what lost us the game simple as that

Sports and life do not exist like that. I know it's easier for people to comprehend if they can break things down to ____ or ____ but it just simply isn't true.

Defensive scheme cost us the game. Can't believe playing 8 yards off the ball by CBs ans lineman playing off the line. Very concerning little to no adjustments were made

Or 2 dropped TD passes

This was true on offensive side of the ball too. We did not make any adjustments until end of game up tempo approach. What happend to all that talk about doing certain things and building play calling to our strength and weapons?? Boutte was targeted twice in first half, that’s not going to cut it.

The D was fine and got stops when we needed em. Didn’t let FSU into the red zone for a half, gave up 0 points on the 2 muffed punts, what else do you want? The offense completed 2 passes beyond the line of scrimmage in the first 42 minutes and didn’t even try to run the ball, maybe look there if you wanna blame someone.

- their ToP was 9 min. longer than us
- had 4 drives of 10 plays or more (2 of them 14 plays- both scoring drives)
- FSU QB threw for 73%
- had 5 plays go for chunk yardage (+15 yds); 2 of them were into the end zone; 3 in the air, 2 on the ground.
Defense was a huge issue.

That bad snap on the first drive set the tone. If we go 7-0 on first drive, then I think they would have played much differently and won

One thing many people didn't point out is the fact that on 3rd and short or medium all night we backed off and didn't press, then finally on that 3rd down before we got the stop that led to the muffed punt, we pressed them. The play was extended, couldn't develop, and we got off the field easily. It doesn't take a miracle, but 3rd is the time when you switch up one little thing and put a hitch in their play. We did not press or do anything of the sort really all night.

Two blocked kicks were pretty big but poor tackling and not getting off the field on 3rd down contributed as well.

all of these would have been better if we had played a warm up game or FSU hadn't played a warm up game.

Actually, did the muffed points cost us anything?
Correct me if I'm wromg, but I think they ended with a Florida St. missed field goal and goal line fumble.

Certainly played a major part. I expect House will adjust.

All of that is correct, but not being able to stop them on 3rd downs was the most frustrating. If it can't be corrected and continues against Miss St. and other real teams on our schedule, it'll make for a very disappointing season.
