Because this happens to be the year where 3 losses can get you a fiesta bowl. 2015 fiesta had a 1 loss and 2 loss team.
the pollsters and major bowls actually take into consideration the circumstances of wins and losses. That you didn't know that is hilarious for someone who purports himself to be some kind of knowledgeable football fan.

21 point loss being defended as competitive ?Talk about mediocrity. Then a 17 pt loss a week later
Did i mention the arky game?
I said the ole miss game was competitive. We were 1 play away from tying the game late in the 3rd.
As i said.... competitive is subjective.
None of us are making any leeway.
We all want lsu to be great.
We had a decent season and it looks like O is gonna bring in a monster class.

Other than making me feel smart & hoping they can take something away from a more rational point of view, there really isn’t a reason.

A 21 point loss.
Is this your standard going forward?

That awesome offense he's touting so hard in 2015 averaged 16 points a game in November of that year.
They also talk about being ranked # 2 in playoff rankings that year...and we fell out of the top 25. This year we remained in the top 6 or 7 until A&M loss. But 2015 was better

you said never competitive.
Being a play away with 2 minutes left is competitive.
Maybe you shouldn't have said the final score was bad.
Do i need to define the word NEVER?

It wasnt much better is the point and you and your ilk constantly bash 2015.
The season we just had mirrors ole miss' 2015 season. You are busting a nut over 2015 ole miss type seasons.
And none of you have even suggested when we should see title returns. When can we start expecting to finish top 5?

being in contention for a playoff spot going into the last weekend isn't much better than not being in the top 25?

well we had a real competitive game against A&M and had we won we would finish top 5 this year...so we are close

Nice season and I have no hard feelings losing to Bama, all the time...If Ed and his assistants continue to put up no resistance whatsoever every time we play Bama, than I'll wish for a new HC.

Hey, let's end the game here!
This is your new standard going forward. 21 pt losses are competitive
This has the possibility of a new sig...

Roger said we were never competitive. I said we got beat bad but the game was a 7 point game with 2:50 left in the 3rd.
Competitive is subjective but imo the 2014 auburn game was never competitive.

In today's college football (while Nick Saban is still coaching Alabama...) I want the LSU program to:
1. Compete for the SEC championship every season
2. Be in the national title conversation in late November
3. Recruit at a high level (top 5 classes, or no worse than 10 that meets roster needs)
I'm happy to see we are in a better place than where we were at the time of Les' firing. I expect LSU to be a perennial double digit win team, but that type of sustained, successful program isn't built overnight and that's why coaches are generally given 3+ years to demonstrate their aptitude of building or rebuilding a program.
We are trending back towards that 10+ win level as we were from 2001 to 2013. I want to see O get to that level and remain there and I believe he can do it. I want the coach to identify areas of weakness and find ways to improve upon them. I thought this season was an excellent example of doing just that.
From here on out, any season below 10 wins for LSU should constitute the head coach being on the hot seat the next year, imo.

I remember a mass exodus of lsu players freshman and sophomores transferring and lsu being thin since that point. We are just now barely getting back afloat on offensive and defensive line.

“Contention”
Not only did we lose, but OSU, and Oklahoma won.
We need both to lose to sneak in with 2 losses.

We still lost 3 games.
We fired miles because.....
We were tired of losing to bama.
We were tired of having a shite offense.
We were tired of losing to multiple inferior teams.
we still did all those this year. The fact that your sitting here saying 1 3 loss season is that much better than another 3 loss season with no title being won in either season, shows your bias.
Would i take this year over 2015? Yes because of the Fiesta bowl. Thank god we got a fiesta bowl invite as a 3 loss team. In 2015 the teams had 1 and 2 losses.
Again, our season is like 2015 ole miss' season.
3 loss Sugar bowl winner( in our case fiesta bowl)
