Long story short… I took my girlfriend to the game last night for the first time, and what started as an exciting night quickly became one of the scariest moments I’ve ever experienced.

She became severely dehydrated—not alcohol related at all. She had one drink at a restaurant all day, but simply didn’t drink enough water, and with the heat and humidity, it caught up with her.

We were about 10 rows deep in the crowd as the team was walking in. Right before the team got to us, she told me she felt dizzy and then just went completely limp.

I’ve never been so scared.

What happened next was incredible. Everyone around us immediately jumped into action—pouring water on her, helping us, and doing everything they could. She came around, but about 30 seconds later, she fainted again. I picked her up, and the crowd literally parted to clear a path so we could get her to the front and get medical assistance.

The amount of care, compassion, and concern everyone showed us was absolutely incredible. Strangers who didn’t know us didn’t hesitate for a second to help.

She ended up being completely fine after getting some fluids, and thankfully, we were able to make it into the game and have an absolute blast.

What a night of emotions. From one of the scariest moments I’ve ever experienced to an incredible game surrounded by some of the best people in the country.

I can’t say thank you enough to everyone who helped us last night.

There truly are no better fans in America.

Thanks, Tiger Family!

Remind her hydration starts the day before. Glad she’s ok but it can be very scary. Also, once you have heat related illness, you’re more susceptible to them.

Not sure about her but a lot of women don’t eat enough, especially now days with all the weight loss drugs.

Being exposed to 4-5 hours of heat can get you pretty quick if you aren’t hydrate d.

She ate plenty. She just didn’t drink enough electrolytes. Crazy how quickly it affected her. Will be much more vigilant next time for sure. I think she drank 4 of those one liter waters after they sell in the stadium. lol. $24 of water.

Note to self: have a family member fake passing out to get up close to the team for pregame festivities.

In all seriousness I'm glad she was okay and you both got to enjoy her first time in Tiger Stadium.

I'm happy to hear she is OK. Instances such as that bring out the best in people.

Were yall near the pmac? The paramedics came by and yelled for us to make room to get to someone. Was wondering what happened.

That's YOUR fault for not making sure she was drinking water and staying hydrated!

That was what we kept laughing about after. Ever want to get to the front of the line, just pass out. So very thankful though. Crazy how packed it was with zero room to move yet somehow the crowd parted magically.

Really have to hydrate this time of the year. The danger is real. It is not uncommon in these September games (especially day games) to see multiple people getting assistance.

Glad she is fine.

Happened to me at the dr's office. After they drew blood, I went to stand up and fell out. They wheeled me to the E/R. BP was 80/50 and I was severely dehydrated. Moral of the story, drink plenty of liquids, no matter the heat.
