There are lot of good coaches that has consistent pitching staff to win at omaha.

Not trying becuase you are scared of the future is a loser mentality and complacency. That is exactly what is happening.

Kevin sullivan at FL, Louisville coach Dan McDonell, TCU coach would be a good start

We did NOT have the top-end starting pitching nor did we have the elite-level bats to make it to Omaha.

I think Paul did about as well as he could with his team.....

No left-handed pitching.
I didn't see a true #1 Starting Pitcher, let alone 2 like we've had in some years.
And you've gotta have some serious bats in your line-up.

Too bad he's not in charge of recruiting the players he wants.

who recruits for LSU?

Vandy seems to always have top notch pitching every year. I guess it's just luck that they get guys every year and not recruiting huh

But, can't be three years in a row. That dog won't hunt.

So going to Omaha every 2/3 years is ok if we go 2&Q?
It’s ok because we made it?

There is never going to be an acceptable standard to be met unless it’s a Natty

I don't think that's what I said. That's not what I meant at least. I'm saying that if he doesn't at least get go Omaha next year, he should be done. D-u-n done.

LSU should make Omaha at a 60% clip. I think that is fair and reasonable to a coach

That is 6 times in a 10 year period. CPM has made it 3 times in the last 10 seasons.

That’s awful for LSU

But you are ok with 2&Q next season as long as we make it to Omaha?

Because most will not be

What if we win & make it CWS finals next 3 years but don’t win a Natty?
Is that going to be acceptable?

Smoke made it Omaha, paula won with Smoke's players.

Yeah I probably would be as long as they are playing a better brand of baseball and just either run into a buzzsaw or have bad luck. But, he's gotta improve in every single area, hitting, starting pitching, relief pitching, base running and just overall emotion, motivation and fire.

It is to me because of how difficult it is to win a championship in baseball. There a lot of things that have to fall your way to win it.

Skip is had difficult measuring stick for any coach. Mainieri is good enough for most programs, but we are not most programs. Texas Tech has been to Omaha 4 out of the last 6 years. That is the consistency I expect. I don't care about SEC titles, and SEC tournament titles. He took a job that demands the CWS. If you are not there, you can not win it all.

I’m pretty sure you could get damn near anyone to just sit there and then blame the players after the games. Hell, I’d love to do it for his salary. I’d even recruit

To be fair, LSU has made it 5 times in the last 12 years. I just posted the last decade because he said the title was 10 years ago. So 42% under PM, not 60% but, better than 30%.

PM's lineup and in-game decisions doomed this Super.

Smoke had a program that had little talent and was getting worse.

It's not very smart to try and make Smoke's tenure look anything like what we have with Mainieri. Smoke was a disaster.
