You never played sports. Players respect coaches for leadership and competence.Doesnt matter where you are from. Guess Saban was a a good ole baw coming to LSU?

The pass defense was so inept it led to people thinking Master P was paying DBs to throw games
Bc how else can you explain some of those defensive performances.

You could def see the wasted athleticism under Dinardo

Yep. And let’s be honest, we Louisiana folk always knew how much talent LSU had or should have had. It was not until 2003 that we finally saw that talent fully gathered and unleashed on defense, and not until 2019 did we see that on offense.

2019 is what we knew LSU could do all along!

turnaround job that was at least 40 to 50 percent Dinardo's work

I don't know if I'll give them that much of the pie.

Well, we actually always had nfl caliber talent on offense as well. We just didn't ever seen to be able to sign a quality top notch qb or develop them once they got in the program. Our scheme on offense was always dependent on how the rb played and how the ol run blocked...if we couldn't execute at those positions and push other teams around and run the ball on them, we would probably lose most of the time bc we simply lacked the talent at qb to match our talent at skill positions and get them the ball.

His voice sounds a lot like O'Bama.... good first three years, then went in the ditch and couldn't get out.

The last conversation lasted almost an hour. Joe listened and made his counterpoints as to why he should not terminate DiNardo.

That illustrates Joe was as incompetent as Gerry.

I'll admit that I supported Gerry until he was fired. I never played a down of football.
But after he was fired he admitted that he stuck with McConnel as his OC because, if he brought in a competent OC, he, Dinardo, would have to learn a new offensive scheme.
That's Miles thinking. Big ten country!

Exactly right.

Although for a while the best talent was leaving the state. I give Dinardo credit for changing that.

It really was a f'ing spectacle. It would have been funny had it not been LSU but you could literally see them lining up with the exact same formation and that stupid drop LB concept and *boom* 10, 12, 20 yard gain. Play after stinking f'ing play.

I knew it was time for Dinardo and Tepper to go when I heard Dinardo on the radio after the Georgia blowout
We lost to UGA his last 2 years but neither game was a blowout.

I remember during the 1998 Georgia game, I think Georgia had a 3rd and very long, and everybody in the stadium knew a pass play was coming. The LSU D got some pressure on the UGA QB and he threw the worst rainbow I’ve seen in big college football. The ball hung in the air almost like a punt. Our cover guy was so horrible that he never looked for the ball in that eternity it was in the air, and it was a 1st down completion.

Our secondaries in 2000 and 2001 had a Tepper hangover and took a long time to re-learn how to cover. Hookfin was one I remember turned it around for the better under Saban. It was either him or “the great cornerback Fred Booker” or both that used to race WRs to the end zone and never look back.

A lot of people forget that Ruffino’s on Highland was Dinardo’s. Gerry would be there a lot and would greet you when you walked in with a big smile. Super nice guy.
