Daniel’s stats last season at Arizona St vs PAC 12 defenses TD’s= 10 Int’s= 10
Is that what we’re doing? We’re cherry picking?
Well, we’ve come to the conclusion that last year he was mediocre. That’s what the numbers say, correct? We are obviously not taking ANY consideration of the talent around him. Football is by no means a team sport. So that’s covered…
Now do his previous 2 years…one him being a true freshman…
22 TD/7 INT, 60% comp. percentage.

So when you put him up against SEC defenses he suddenly is going to be good.

He regressed from his freshman year against Pac 12 defenses.
Maybe it was due to losing 1st round WR Brandon Aiyuk & not having another receiver that caliber afterwards. I'm amazed that so many gloss over this.
In a situation like that, the production & talent a loss but it completely changes the way opposing defenses use their coverages.
Opposing defensive coordinators have to bracket or double a receiver like Kayshon Boutte because he will feast against too much man. So it opens up other favorable matchups for Bech, Nabors & Thomas. Please go back & look at the ASU roster after 2020 & tell me what receiver on that roster would command the type of attention Boutte does coverage wise or even 70% of his production?

Yes, that PAC12 defense that made LSU look like a JR varsity last year with Max Johnson throwing balls over his head.
ASU had no OL. Look at his 3 year totals. His Freshman year he had 2 WR who would get drafted, 1 in the 2020 draft and the other in the 2021.
He had No WR's or TE's to throw to last year at ASU. What do you not understand. Unless because he is not of European ancestry. Is that it?

Let the best QB play. If that's Daniels let's ride.

Why did he regress?
Look, I think that we’re all drinking the camp kool aid and LSU will probably end up 8-4ish….but QB isn’t the problem child of this bunch.
You’re reaching a mile for straws. Kind of waiting for you to break out the race card at this point.

I have said the same thing over and over again.
LSU's WR room in 2022 from 1 to 7 are all better than what ASU had last year as their #1 WR.

that what we’re doing? We’re cherry picking?

Don’t give a crap who is the starting Qb….Let’s Go
Posted on 8/20/22 at 7:56 pm to BigBrod81
I don't know how he'll be, but his WRs were completely depleted last year. They had major injuries in the WR core the whole season and almost no experience or continuity at the WR spot. When he had some studs to throw to his freshman year, he did have a great year with 17 TDs to 2 Ints while being the first true freshman ever to start the season at QB at ASU. He had 5 TDs to 1 Int. in the very short COVID year and ran for 6.8 ypc.
We know he is flat-out fast and can run, so if he can be decently accurate with LSU's WR talent (and read defenses), he could be very successful. He averaged over 5 ypc rushing with 700+ yards and 6 rushing TDs last year. That's great rushing numbers for a QB. And I did see him throw a ball 50+ yards in the air and hit a dude perfectly in stride for a TD, so he has the capability to stetch the field too. The SEC is a big step up, but the defenses haven't been as good in the past, so it will be interesting.

I've not been 100% sold on Daniels to this point, but his stats could absolutely be affected by who he has or doesn't have to throw to. He had 2 NFL caliber receivers his freshman year but not so much his sophomore year. If he's named the starter, then I'll be hoping he is successful and helps us win. To say he can't get better from one year to the next is pretty ridiculous, though.

There's a reason Kelly wanted this guy. You had to think it wasn't so he could back up Nuss or Myles.

He’s so physically talented…that you have to at least give him a chance to show if he’s improved….he’s a playmaker…I’m fine with him taking the first snap at Florida state
