Oddly, I feel better about this team than 2011.

They don't have the experience. They don't have the depth. They don't have 8 NFL players suited up.

But they have heart. And the coaches want it more than anyone else has in years.

I am literally laughing out loud. i wish you could hear me.

You mean the one that lost to their in-city rival that had less talent the year that O was interim? Nah, he probably sees USC too.

LSU is a shite show. Orgeron is comical. They should win.

But they keep saying should.

Few want to say it's a sure thing.

All accurate statements. And of course it isn't a sure thing. There is always an unlikely possibility.

Ignorant and unsupportable statement.

Unsupportable? There is literally a data set that supports the statement.

Meh, this is the worst I've felt about LSU's chances in the last 15 years, but yes, there is still a chance.

Worst chance I’ve thought we ever had was 2008 with the J Lee pick-6 machine in full effect and Bama riding in undefeated. We took them to OT that year and I was pleasantly surprised at our chances. Even though I should have learned my lesson in ‘93 when it took “flying pigs” to beat Bama, I have NEVER legitimately thought LSU has not had a chance to win any game since 2008.

If we had a more dynamic play maker at quarterback then I would say yes we have a solid chance but we do not. We are extremely limited there by Danny’s abilities. Teams that have beaten Alabama all have one thing in common, a dynamic play maker at quarterback.
Very good point. We are very pedestrian in the qb area. Etling is good at not making regular mistakes and managing the game. Bama will manage him alright. He was nothing short of awful in last years game. Of course the o-line was bad too. They will BOTH need to step up big time just to keep it somewhat respectable, but even if they do it would still take a near miracle to pull off a win. But stranger things have happened, i.e. the win in '93 was a shocker.

A big positive that I see from the last 3 weeks is a SLIGHT turnaround in the criticism by some of the posters in this very thread. There are still plenty that wish we'd lose, but I'm noticing a little change for the better.

This team is playing to win, and you can't ever tell what might happen when that attitude spreads.

Just because you keep saying it doesn't make it true.

To me it all hinges on offense...if we expect to play with double TE sets we are doomed.

A lot of the issues with this team are because of O's plan for how to run the program, which has included some of the weak play physically, transfers, and subsequent depth issues as well as some of the assistant coaching hires he's made.

I disagree. and my points are actually provable and not the drivel you espouse (which is based on opinion and probably prejudice). we have a YOUNG TEAM in very key areas. we have a new OL basically and that is NONE of O's doing. we had injuries to key players on the DL and A.Key having to rehab and miss lots of time (again, no fault of O's). we have a new offensive system. we have an average QB (not O's fault).

whether you want to admit it or not, O inherited a lot of weaknesses. he wasn't recruiting co-ord long enough to make a huge difference but he made some. our DL, and LB recruiting had become horrible. O and Aranda have begun to change that. I think our O line is better also as miles left it depleted. yet our freshmen are better than most of the upperclassmen. other than Teuhuma, none of those guys that left were top lineman and Teuhuma screwed the pooch, not O.

i'm not saying O is going to be the coach to return LSU to elite status; I simply do not know. but I refuse to blame EVERYTHING on him. this team needed a partial rebuild in very important areas and STILL DOES.

The last three wins came against teams with pocket passer QBs.

You must not have watched Shea Patterson much.
