I've never seen somebody build so fast.

He's got everything. The only thing he doesn't have is the white dude on the wing who spots up and knocks down threes, but he has elements of that (Fountain, at least as a freshman, had some of it, Hill when he gets hot will drain them over and over, Ward looks like he could be pretty deadly out there, Miller can shoot all day and Wilkinson is a 3-and-D guy).

Post play? Covered. With Phillips you have the prototype rim protector, Williams is kinda like a Sam Perkins type who can take his man outside and shoot over him plus he can ball in the lane, you have a really nice undersized 5 in Coleman who can be a good garbage man and clean the glass, Fountain at least gives you some fouls down there and Reed has colossal upside, particularly as an offensive threat.

Then you have two of the more athletic wings in college basketball in Wilkinson and Ward, both of whom can play big-time above the rim. Wilkinson is an elite defender, Ward is a double-figure scorer.

And your backcourt with Miller and Hill could very easily be one of the top three in the league. People aren't giving Hill the credit he deserves, but that will change. Plus with Hayes, Hannibal and Williams you've got three super-athletic backups who can all play the point and fill up a stat sheet, even though none of them have demonstrated a huge offensive game.

It's a deep roster and it's complete. It has people who can fill all the roles a team needs. There's experience in the three guys from Murray State, Wilkinson and Miller, and there's great young talent as well.

How'd he do this from scratch in two months?

Do we not have any postseason ban? I hope we don’t because the coach who was responsible has been terminated and these current players have nothing to do with it

Think about this…

Not one player or recruit left on this team about a month, month and half ago. Hell, we didn’t even have a coach!

* Will Boot Up still be a thing?

Only way this roster gets turned around so quickly is if CWW is helping out behind the scenes.

Chances McMahon can bring him back as an assistant in a few years? I'm all for it.

If I had to guess the NCAA will ding us some scholarships down the road and do some other crap, but rather than a postseason ban they'll deny LSU any revenue from playing in the tournament. Which - meh. I don't care about that. Woodward will just have to shake the tree some more.

The doomsday predictors in the wake of Wade's firing simply didn't understand how quickly rosters can be overturned with the one free transfer rule.

First, it helped that McMahon coached one of the best mid-major teams last season. While you hate it if you are a Murry St. fan, their roster was a rich feeder for LSU's roster.

He did an excellent job of convincing three LSU players to stay. I figured Wilkinson would be the best candidate to stick around. But getting both Williams and Miller to stay (guys who really had no strong connection to LSU other than Wade and his staff) was tremendous. I also think keeping Taz on staff was a nice bridge to help keep those guys on board.

The non-Murray St. transfers aren't big names, but it was a good job finding guys who either wanted to get out of terrible programs (Coleman) or had become undervalued at their current programs.

The unexpected aspect was the HS recruiting success. I think a big assist goes to McMahon's assistant coach hires. The did a tremendous job landing three of the (relatively) few great HS prospects that we left in the flurry of coaching changes following the season.

On paper, I think this roster puts LSU in at least the top 8 of the SEC going into next season with a chance to be better. Right now it looks like there are 4 teams who should be good (Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Auburn); two teams that could be good (A&M and Alabama) and two teams with new HC's with what appear to have solid rosters (Florida and LSU). Given that a little over 6 weeks ago LSU theoretically didn't have a single scholarship player on next year's team, I'd say McMahon has done a pretty good job since he's been in Baton Rouge.

Will Wade will be coaching pro ball in Europe by this fall, and by 2024 he'll be with an NBA organization in some fashion. He's an analytics guy and they love all that in the NBA.

I doubt you'll see Wade coaching college ball again. He's going to get a show-cause from the NCAA and by the time it's expired he'll find a niche somewhere else and be succeeding in that.

While only one case has been decided by the IARP (NC State) the sanctions given in that case appear to suggest that group may not want to issue a postseason ban as a sanction. Particularly in light of the fact the coaches and players who were implicated in the allegations are no longer at the school. A postseason ban would basically force the new coaches and players to suffer the consequences for wrongs not committed by them. That's not a particularly fair penalty.

Plus, given that LSU seems to be down the line in terms of when cases will be decided, it is unlikely anything would be decided before the beginning of this season.

If I had to guess, I think Wade gets hit really hard. Armstrong gets hit slightly less hard. LSU will lose 2-4 scholarships over the course of a few years, have some recruiting restrictions, and pay some fines. But I don't think there is a postseason ban.

CMM has done an amazing job.

He took this team from, "WTF is LSU basketball going to do" to tournament team expectations.

With this kind of start CMM is going to make it really easy to forget about CWW.

To do what, recruit? Well no that'll just land us in hot water. To coach? Well no he sucks at that.

Wouldn't surprise me, but we shouldn't based on what you said.

It's not against the law in Louisiana to recruit White Dudes that can knock down threes. (Keith Hornsby was the last one)

One thing I'm certain of, is that MM will coach them up and we'll see a much more organized and coherent offensive game plan, along with overall game management improvement........

This so called white dude that can knock down threes that we are missing. Would you go as far as to say he is a real gym rat?

I’m guessing he was talking about more of a cerebral, coaches son type player

To be fair, McMahon did recruit two such guys. One transferred from Memphis to Virginia Tech. The other signed with his home state school, Maryland. Both, purportedly had LSU in their final 2-3 choices.
