To be fair to nolaeer, if we're honest here and we swap Patterson for Miles, leaving all other staff and the talent on the field the same, LSU doesnt lose to Dabo Sweeney and probably doesnt have the postseason blues as often as we do with leslie at the helm.

I like Miles, but he is what he is, and he aint what he aint.
Patterson hasn't proven jack shite to me as a coach. Yay, he could beat Boise in a Cinderella showdown a couple times. Yay, he could dominate the Mountain West.
1 season at the "big boy's table" (in the Big 12, a real BCS conference) and he goes 7-6, and follows that by running his mouth needlessly about his opponent in the upcoming season opener.

I bet in 3 more years TCU will be obscure again, and Patterson will be too.

One thing is for sure now... if Miles can beat them by 100 pts, he will.

Good for Gary. This will motivate the team all the more. I hope they all read his comments every day until the game. They should blow them up and put them in the facilities.

Was he not? I haven't paid too much attention to this story but as I understood from what I've heard, he was REINSTATED to the team by a team vote... does that not indicate that he was not a part of the program until then? If I am mistaken, I apologize.

A whole year would be absurd for a misdemeanor. A couple of games are warranted I think, but a whole year is WAY overboard.

By allowing a team vote Miles made his decision already. Notice he didnt allow a team vote for TM7.

Patterson is twice the coach Miles is. LSU is just a much better program to coach at.

The fact is Miles can recruit a ton of top athletes at LSU. There is no single player that is more important than discipline.

Saban doesnt have any problems kicking guys off his team-and it doesnt seem to hurt him on the field too much.

Miles is in the best position to discipline a player. he knows them better than a fan, but the team will vote for the player every time.

Miles knows that. He should just have made the decision himself. I think it may have been better for Hill-and ultimately for LSU, to make Hill sit for a year and earn his way back onto the field.

With the talent this state has at rb, LSU should always have a stable of rbs. I think hilliard is better anyway.

Good God there is so much stupidity in this post it isn't even funny.

TCU can play all their best players and it won't matter.
LSU is gonna beat them down. As in, make them quit beat down.

And likely without even using Hill

It's really blowing my mind that people actually think that Miles left the decision to reinstate Hill completely up to the team. Like he washed his hands of the situation or something. If Hill wasn't going to be let back on the team, there never would have been a vote. Instead the vote was to give the team a chance to voice their opinion. It had nothing to do with Miles ducking responsibility.

But that doesn't fit the narrative that is getting created, so common sense just gets swept under the rug.

Just as is the case with anything, you have to look at the context and situation of that loss. Our QB for that game (Boykin) had been practicing at RB for two weeks and not taking many reps at QB until Thursday before the game, after Casey decided to be stupid and get behind the wheel of his truck drunk.

That certainly didn't help, and though our D did NOT play well, all the turnovers compounded that problem.

You're right. We've never played a big non con or bowl game against a high quality opponent ever in the history of Coach P's tenure. We're all terrified at the mighty greatness of His Highness Les Miles and his mighty army of Tigers.

Get a grip, man. This'll be a good game. There's a reason the Vegas line is only -4.

I wasn't criticizing your team or coach. I was simply making the point that all coaches lose games they shouldn't.

Understood. So he was suspended from all team activity then?

It's also important to note that these two situations are really apples and oranges. Hill was dismissed from the team and then the team took a vote whether or not to reinstate him

Absolutely. Last year was pretty frustrating... we lost almost 20 players who should've been on the roster for our first Big XII season, many of whom were on the 2 deep. We all know chit happens (like y'all losing half the city of Baton Rouge to the NFL draft this last year), but it's hard not to play the 'what if?' game in that regards.
