Few other notes. The game was lost in 2 phases, along the OL & with our LB play.

- Along the OL there we’re drive killing sacks, penalties, & QB hits that altered aone throws by Burrow. Magee, Charles & Deculus were abused by 92, 99, & 11. I think all 3 guys are future NFL’ers.

They made all 3 look slow. Not sure if Charles is injured. Magee is just slow out of his stance. I’d like to get Hines back in there. When Deculus is bad, he is bad but I think he’ll end up being a solid lineman for us.

That being said, a lot of people are complaining about the play calling. I had beef with the play calling only twice this game, it stemmed from 1st & 2nd & long runs on back to back. If you’re going to crush the play calling at least rewatch the game & realize how many plays were foiled by our OL. You have to separate that from the plays that are called.

- as for the LBs & defense, there were two 3/short plays in the FL drive before the Burrow pick 6 where Baskerville missed a tackle & then Ed Alexander & Baskerville missed a tackle which would have forced a punt & out LSU in great field position (in talking our own 40 or near midfield) with ample time. Look at those 2 plays specifically.

Defense as a whole wasn’t bad, but their performance was magnified by plays like that. They provided enough stops & even a turnover for our offense to play with but the OL really killed chance after chance,

Giles killed us but kirklin looked horrible too

If we bench Giles, get Phillips and the OL back healthy, we are ok. We aren’t winning out but we’ll be fine.

This game had a weird combination of chunk plays by our offfense & drive killing plays by their defense. I think that is why their D was given the opportunity to continue to make plays in our passing game.

Ensminger’s hand was forced to keep on dropping back. People have said it was conservative, but rewatching it again I don’t think it was at all. He was giving our guys shots to make plays & the OL just let them down. I don’t think the playcalling was bad at all, overall.

worst return game i have seen from LSU in a very long time, if not ever.

even Giles best return is probably house by previous returners of LSU.. if not a much larger gain.

also, still don't like the play calling. don't care what offensive line excuse you want to make. routes short of the sticks on 3rd down, often times not even throwing it deep when you could possibly pick up a PI for first.. and the old run, run, pass punt at times.. it was frustrating..

but my biggest gripe will always be O rushing to kick a fg without calling a timeout for a review, or even going for it after the timeout.. for 1 f-ing yard.. a qb sneak is nearly impossible to defend for a year and it was early enough in the game to go for it there.

it amazes me O went for it on 4th in a game in our own territory this year, but he wouldn't go for it there?? it was much better field position and it was less yardage needed.. that was the turning point of the game. just relying too much on special teams and the defense to carry you.. just like like the ND game.

i'm not even asking O to go for a million fourth downs late against florida like Miles did.. i'm asking him to go for that one.. for a yard or less.. Miles found ways to beat even elite Florida teams.. even if it meant fake fgs or going for a multiple fourth downs. sick of the ultra conservative shite.. yet O had no issue burning a timeout for a ridiculously elaborated attempt to draw an off-sides.. which was a waste and failure.. but he can't call a timeout for a much more important decision..

I definitely agree that overall the defense was okay. It was just a couple key critical moments in the game that they didn’t step up and make the play to win the game.

Specifically, On Florida’s drive after we took lead, and on Florida’s last drive backed up to their 5

There were also a couple good passing plays that were completed to only get called back due to penalties. Not sure if you hit on those, but I agree about the playcalling. To simply blame it on playcalling is lazy. Lack of execution due to drops and mental mistakes is on the players.

You can’t blame that on the coaching anymore. We are more well coached compared to the last regime. The players have to meet the staff half way and start stepping up and making the tough plays needed to win close games in this league.

I think people mostly mean the multiple decisions to kick it on 4th and short

the playcalling generally wasn't "conservative" in a Les Miles sense but we were clearly unable to respond to their early defensive adjustments, either bc of a lack of imagination or lack of ability.

Good points. I don’t see how this o line can match up with Bama’s front. If we can win 2 out of the next 4 in the SEC , that is still a better season than I thought we’d have.

I agree about giles. Put anyone else back there. I'd like Chase to get a look.

LE is right about play calling. I felt there were many opportunities given to our play makers and whether its a holding call, a sack or burrow dumping to a check down because theres no time for routes to develop, this loss is 80% on the O line to me.

A few weeks ago they went max protect with 2 routes and this time they mostly depended on the linemen for protection. There has to be a balance between those.

I really wish Shelvin would get his shite together. We really could have used an inshape game ready talent like him. And please god can someone step up as a consistent pass rusher?

Anyone know when Brumfield is available again?

OL forced SE's hands. Burrow looks to me that he is getting better and better. Yeah he got pick 6, but I thought he looked good.
Our WR's have to catch the ball better.

Defense just simply allowed to much TAC. I think not having Phillips was a huge key.

If we can find a way to protect Burrow, we can be very good. Sat will be tough, but is very winnable.

LE love the breakdown.
