This year is shaping up to be the worst of McMahon, losing already to two teams his teams beat in the previous two years. A very inauspicious start.

I'm going on a six-week hiatus from LSU men's basketball. Hopefully when I rejoin following this team we'll have a new coach already

I dont find the suffrage of our basketball program (or any other LSU program) humorous. I understand you're poking fun at the faith people had a month ago, but it comes at tge expense of a dismal team. Losing sucks. Not being competitive is frustrating and i just can't bring myself to laugh at the hope amd faith some had...because that's what being a fan is supposed to be.

But by this point it's hard to say the turnover issue is not a byproduct of McMahon's offense more so than the individual players. LSU's has been really bad in turnovers in each of McMahon's three seasons...with (now) 3 different sets of backcourts. When something keeps happening over and over with different variables don't you have to start looking for common factors?
You’re responding to a guy that literally wrote this the other day:

15 turnovers was the difference in that game. Has nothing to do with coaching.

I think as far as PG that is one area he has struggled recruiting. Hannibal and juice were not SEC starting caliber PG. Sears is looking the same. I believe Givens can end up being a good PG with experience and more S&C during offseason. we have had smalll PG the last 3 years. That doesn’t translate well in SEC.

Hannibal was 6-2, 217lbs, that’s not a small PG and there have been plenty of small PGs who were outstanding SEC players recently. Tremont Waters, Tyler Ullis, Shavir Wheeler, Wendell Green, Kennedy Chandler, Zak Ziegler and on and on and on. All 6ft or under, all either SEC all-conf or PGs for SEC champs and competing Tourney Teams, a couple POTY and DPOTY winners.

Every year…. LSU 10-2 in nonconference Playing nobodies and crap teams Fans: Ooooh, this team is good Then SEC play starts and reality sets in

The is the classic basketball post on here. Last year we finished 7th in the SEC. Non-conference play is what kept us out of the NCAA tournament.

Hard to tell how this team would be if we still had Jalen Reed healthy. The team looked very good before he went down.

newsflash:

Jalen Reed was averaging 11 points per game against powder puff competition.

He wasn't close to being an ALL SEC type performer.

Would he help this team certainly, but this team was still going to be a near bottom of the SEC type team..with or without Reed.

Especially with how great the SEC is now. We had reason to have high hopes for this season but Reed going down was a huge blow in an area we really couldn't afford to lose depth. This just sucks because we know this isn't this team's full potential.

With next year's signing class, if McMahon doesn't put up a winning conference record, he's gotta go.

Kansas ST and UCF were very good wins away from our home court, and FSU at a 60 KP rating was our strongest win to date, and where Reed went down. I 100% believe we beat SMU and Vandy if Reed is healthy and that would give us 13-2 and nothing to bitch about.

We need him for defense more than anything. Our team is too small now to have a chance to compete in the SEC. This shouldn't be an issue next year, and McMahon needs to be shown the door if we don't significantly improve with next year's very strong class.

I don't know about "should,' but we could go 0-18 in SEC this year and he very likely isn't going anywhere. Just the reality of the situation.

That's very plausible. Certainly the mood on the board would look different. However, if you dug a bit deeper, even with Reed healthy, you saw the potential cracks in the foundation. That's why I was optimistic with the non-conf. performance...but cautiously optimistic. Even with Reed LSU was still one of the 2-3 lowest rating SEC teams in the predictive metrics. Oklahoma was in a similar (albeit a better) position. They were undefeated in non-conf. play. But the predictive data suggested they probably weren't as good as their record suggested. Two games into SEC play they are 0-2 with a nearly 30 point loss @ Alabama, and a home loss last night to A&M.

The thing that gets me is these Wade cultists who insist on bringing him up at every opportunity. I loved Wade but he's gone and Mcmahon isn't responsible for him leaving. The reason I say cultist is they were demanding mcmahon be fired after yr 1.LOL. That is a cult. Reed definitely makes this team better and more competitive, especially with the inexperience we are putting on the court this year. This should all go towards making this team even better next year and hopefully we see some maturity throughout the season but to act like Reed's injury has nothing to do with it and it's just because Mcmahon sucks is juvenile. But it is the rant so......

I'm with you. I was hopeful for 8-10 in the SEC which probably would've been good enough to sneak into the tourney with another win or two in the SEC tourney. We'd be lucky to go 4-14 now without Reed.
