Think of students who have international flights reserved for spring break.
How many of those do you think there are compared to students that will be attending the game?

I plan to burn-a sick day 1/14

Exactly.

F King’s last day was 12/31.
Despite that, anyone want to bet that he watches the game from the LSU or Governor’s suite ?

Skip it, the first day is just a syllabus day anyway.

Days in school for a semeseter is dictated by accreditation, not LSU. If they give a day off, they need to make it up somwhere else. Problem is we get MLK, Fat Tuesday, Spring Break and Easter in the spring semester. That means you take a couple of days away from spring break or cancel Mardi Gras or Good Friday. The answer is to move the NCG up in future years so it does not clash with the first day of classes.

What's really funny is that State Employees in Baton Rouge are off because of Inauguration Day.

This. If you can't miss the first day of class and still pass just fine then you don't need to be at LSU.

Unless you have an exam that your professor refuses to move then you should be good. Talk to them in advance to advise against pop quizzes as well.
how the hell can you talk to them in advance when the 1st day is Monday?
am i missing something here?
skip Mon and Tues. I'm sure plenty have in the past for less important reasons

1/14 is the day you want off
In 2004, at the age of 41, I went to work in Baton Rouge after being out in the French Quarter most of the night after the win. I only took a 2 hour nap before I drove back to BR.
I think a student half of my then age could make it to class the next day.
Syllabus days are BS days anyway. Most profs/instructors don't get into too much material on first day of class.

He gave the whole class extra points on our exam last semester after we beat bama. He called it the "Burrow Boost"

Dont Instructors/Profs post their syllabus online? frick it. These people don't care whether you show up for class or not.

As someone who attended a grad school that regularly moves missed dates to a weekend without issue, yeah I'm serious.
Hell, schools consistently move classes to a make-up weekend for bball & hockey national championships too. It's not some random unheard of course of events.
To move a Monday+Tuesday of celebratory misses to a Saturday+Sunday make-up weekend is not a problem, in the least.

Just because class is held doesn’t mean you have to be there. Why the uproar?
