I thought at the time that we lost to a weaker team at the beginning of 2022, but, as fate would have it, FSU has the same record as us at this time, playing in a bowl game at the same stadium as us this year, and going after the many of the same players as us in the portal. I do like the players we got in the portal, but I like what FSU has done, too. They just got the #1 DL in Fiske from Western Michigan and 2 of the top TEs in Bell and Morlock. Now, we are fighting them for the DB Cypress. I really hope we can pull this rabbit out of our hat for Cypress. Otherwise, 2023 looks like an even tougher test for our boys. It definitely would test our team right out of the gate.

Our team was not ready to play last year...

Next year will be different

Plus do not discount the fact that FSU played a week Zero game the week before and had a chance to work out some of the 1st game issues that LSU did not have the chance to play. That made a huge difference.

Over the past 2 years only 12/32 teams that have played a week 0 game have won the following week. A week 0 game has almost no impact on the following week of play.

What if they would have have been 3/32 without the game. I’d say most teams that do the game 0 know they are outmatched on week 1…so 12/32 is not bad if you’re going in as big underdogs.

Week zero game MASSIVE benefit. We’ve learned that twice now

Fsu finished with the same record as us, yes, but come on man look at our SEC schedule vs their bull shite. At the time of the games, not final rankings, they had 3 teams played that were ranked and lost all 3

It will be different. Doesn’t mean FSU isn’t a good opponent. They turned out to be a good team.

FSU needed us to have horrible QB play for the first three quarters and make 3 huge mistakes on special teams to win last year.
Next year they will be better and may be favored to win. Hopefully that motivates the team and coaches to get their shite together for the first game unlike last year.

Bad boy, bad boy, what you gonna do, what you gonna when they come for you (Cops)

Lsu, Lsu, what you gonna do, what you gonna do when Fsu come for you.

All jokes aside it should be another great highly competitive game. I think it will be another close game again. Lsu has a higher ranked high school class coming in and Fsu has the #1 ranked portal class coming in. It will be very interesting again. Can't wait.

I would imagine they lose Jared Verse and the safety to the draft

LSU not having played a game yet with lots of new players and a whole new coaching staff made a huge difference

To be fair 90% of the teams that play week 0 are absolute trash.

FSU is a top 25 team.

It would have been nice to find out Dellinger can’t snap the ball in Week 0

Eh we definitely lost to the weaker team week 1. Same record but entirely different levels of schedule strength. And filling holes through the portal is great but completely rebuilding through it is extremely risky which is pretty much what they are trying to do. They lose a ton more of production from their team this year. I’m not sure it is even 50/50 they are better next year

Only 16/32 of them would have won week 0...

They just returned several great players too. Their QB is extremely underrated and looked like a star against LSU under pressure most of the game.

They will not beat them "handily". It will be 2 top 10-12 teams going at it in week 1. FSU has basically punted HS players recruiting in favor of dominating the portal. They got a really good OL too and also have a guy last year who they got who got hurt that will be big on their line. They're going to be very good and starter wise, very close to LSU in talent.

Where LSU will have them beat is depth but that's not going to probably matter much in a week 1 match up. Their issue will be breaking in a lot of new starters and no week 0 advantage so the question will be how fast that chemistry comes together. LSU should be in a better position chemistry wise especially on offense. Defense would be our question mark since it's replacing so many starters.

It seemed to matter an awful lot against LSU for the past two seasons. I hope this team is hungry and plays like veterans next season....
