Unless their AD finagles another way to get a week zero game again.

Our AD should try that too.

I thought at the time that we lost to a weaker team at the beginning of 2022, but, as fate would have it, FSU has the same record as us at this time, playing in a bowl game at the same stadium as us this year, and going after the many of the same players as us in the portal.

One thing they had that we didn't: Duquesne

You just can't duplicate a team like Duquesne, even if you scrimmaged your own 4 and 5 stars

FSU needed us to have horrible QB play for the first three quarters

It’s just amazing how firmly this myth has taken hold in our fan base.

Plus do not discount the fact that FSU played a week Zero game the week before and had a chance to work out some of the 1st game issues that LSU did not have the chance to play. That made a huge difference.

You can never underestimate Duquesne, the best way to get ready for a big game is to play 1 stars the week before

Only 1 of those 32 teams got to play Duquesne though

They hadn't scheduled that week zero game yet at this time last year. There is still PLENTY of time for Verge to get outmaneuvered AGAIN.

For the billionth time, every future "kickoff game" contract we sign should include language that this is the first game of the season for BOTH TEAMS.

Florida State has become a formidable squad, no question. I anticipate it being a preseason top ten showdown but I’d still project an LSU win by a decent margin, 10-13 point type win. Grabbing some of these guys will certainly bolster Florida State but LSU has much more talent and better coaching. I do think the Seminoles can win the ACC however.

Very eloquently put brother. They have a solid squad but they can’t match LSU talent for talent. Harold Perkins, Maason Smith, Denver Harris, Mehki Wingo, Kayshon Boutte, Malik Nabers, among others. They will compete heavy in the ACC and are the right track to returning to national prominence however.

Hopefully, come first game 2023 season we can field a punt cleanly and kick all our PATs.

They couldn’t this year and still beat us. Same with UCLA.

You’re talking about the first game of the season under a new regime, QB, and what not. Upsets certainly happen but that’s a poor example.

My guess is that is a very deceiving statistic. Factor in quality of opponent and then see what it looks like.
