I think the only difference would be more people were getting the ax but we still needed a functioning staff. Also its clear that Ed O has laid down a plan for how he believes success would be achieved. I think Ensminger is more likely to go back to his spot as Tight ends coach just due to age. Though we keep putting up 600 yards and its hard to argue with what is going on.

BDP is probably fired by whoever is the next coach. O already demoted him and he still fricked shite up.

Why is that concerning? If LSUs offense looks good thru the remaining schedule give the man a 2 year test contract. He will have earned it

It's concerning because most people who want O permanently at this point also clarify that we would need an elite offensive coordinator.

What are the chances that the best coaches for LSU long term were all on the staff already?

Coach O hasn't really proved anything yet.

The team looked better than it has all year in that one game.

The finances of keeping O may be another consideration in a state where financial optics are important at the University, Herman would cost a lot more considering his buy out and huge salary, probably also cheaper to keep much of this staff together than cleaning the house. Add that to what we owe Miles, money may be a difference in O's favor.

Like I said, if. Lotta football left, against some good teams, to figure things out.

If he wasn't a "coonass" what would your thoughts be? I have a bad feeling people are putting too much into him being a south Louisiana native instead of ability. He may be the guy. I, like everybody else, don't know that yet off of one game. To me it doesn't matter where the next coach is from, it's who has the best ability to make LSU a championship team. Again, not knocking anybody or trying to ruffle feathers. Just my opinion and everyone is entitled to have their own preference.

outside of Herman, Jimbo and Petrino there isn't a candidate without some giant question marks.

Huh?

Herman has been a head coach for less than 2 years. Nothing about him is sure thing except he's a good play caller.

Jimbo has been struggling mightily. People are starting to wonder how good he is without Winston.

Petrino...really? He is a sure thing? He's a top 10 volatile head coach in the country. He's also probably a top 10 coach, but his character issues make him definitely not a sure thing.

The only sure things in college football coaching are Nick Saban and Urban Meyer.

Finances should be no factor in this. You don't go O because it's cheap, you go O if it's the right move.

you don't see the appeal of texas? its the top job in the country. They will pay what it takes, they have the money to put in any facility that Herman ask for and it will be top notch. The recruiting grounds are insane.
just that no other coach has ever asked for this before...sheesh

And not even those two, Urban left Fla because of the pressures and stress, as if there isn't any at LSU.

Rich Rod was handed the keys to a big time program and he managed to run michigan into the ground. His defense isn't going to fly in the sec. Rich Rod is a fringe program guy

i don't think so tbh. the michigan '07 team had like 18-19 Jr/Srs... he lost a huge majority of them.

'08 3-9
'09 5-7
'10 7-5

...

Then brady hoke goes 11-2 and wins the sugar bowl with Rich Rods roster.

the 2006/2007 recruiting classes he inherited combined for two 5*, sixteen 4*, and nineteen 3*.. not exactly a stocked cupboard

Let it play out. He damn sure deserves a shot. If he goes 6-2 and beats Bama I am all in

Eh, I say let's hold the phone.

It's easy to say this playing against an undersized Missouri.

Let's see what we look like as we enter the meat of our schedule then re-evaluate from there.

I'm pretty sure not one person has asked why we haven't signed Coach O to a long term deal yet. Most are saying if he goes 6-2 or better then you have to athe least think about it.

If Orgeron finishes 6-2 or better plus Herman and Fisher are both off the table, I say give Bebe a one year deal to prove himself with the benefit of a whole offseason program, recruiting class, possible assistant coaching changes...etc.

I said it a few days ago and others have said it in this thread: he beats Bama, he's all but got it locked unless he somehow manages to drop 2-3 other games.

He loses to Bama, and it gives LSU a reason to go Herman or Fisher. Bama is key.

Coach O can't be fired, he's an intern for now. Also, Herman is going to Texas, loves UT, loves Austin. Coach Strong is good as gone & Texas can afford his buyout easily. He will probably make more than King Saban & won't demand everything Saban did at bama.
