Despite this year, LSU is still THE quintessential basketball program. Nobody can compare to our history in the sport.

Yeah, he probably thinks Bird wouldn't translate today either, lol. Bird abused many players way more athletic than he was.

There is a video of his peers talking about what a trash talker he was and could back every bit of it up. Bird telling Xavier McDaniel and Dominique Wilkins he was going to catch the ball on a certain spot on the court on an out of bounds play and he was going to hit it with them in his face and would do it. Youngsters don’t understand how talented that era of players were and how they would translate to the game today because they would have all the extensive training they have now. Julius Erving, James Worthy, Oscar, Dominique, Drexler and many others would have been off the charts with all the training of today.

Bob Petit would be Ross Neltner if he were to play in modern times

Read what Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell said about Bob Petit. Petit and his Hawks were the only team to beat Russell and the Celtics in the middle of their run of titles in the late 50's through the mid 60's.

I love LSU basketball but this is just not a defensible assertion. UCLA, Kentucky, North Carolina, Kansas, Duke, and several others have a much stronger case.
