I'll piggyback off this if you don't mind. It's even deeper than that. The state of Louisiana simply produces some absolute dogs. Look across the NFL at the top skill position players in the league right now & at most of those positions you have a former Tiger (or two) in the top 10 of those lists with the majority of them being Louisiana natives.

As an LSU fan, I have never hated Nick Saban. He brought LSU into the “light” and is the greatest college coach in history.

So on the one hand Kelly is the winningest coach in ND history, has finished in the top 5? the last several seasons, some playoff appearances. On the other, he is a lousy coach who cannot recruit, make halftime adjustments or win any big games.

Not a single one of these TE’s were 5* on 247 or On3. They were highly ranked but none were close to being 5*’s Chief & Tommy Tremble was a 3* TE & ranked #450+ on both services as well.

You can list 10 tight ends, some linemen, maybe some high rated QBs on the bench…
Georgia and Bama have every single player drafted. Linemen, skill positions on offense and defense, QBs, etc. LSU in a 6-6 year will have more players drfated than a “stacked” ND team. Your talent is not the same. You have no one who could remotely compete on defense against upper tier SEC receivers. Your right ends will be shutdown by LBers and safeties.

His criticism of Book is the best part of all of this. He's literally arguing that Kelly took a shitty, "safe", quarterback and coached him to a 30-3 record.
I mean, I guess we could have hired worse.
