He talks about Bo coming back and what to expect from him. He is very happy about the hire.

Roy and Guillory are evidence of this. Quick, nimble, powerful d-linemen, O said at the start of the year he wanted to be a more attacking defense.

Big, line busting d-linemen is what O wants. He’s never kept that a secret. Pelini will deliver. He has a ton of talent to work with.

I think it will be a refreshing start for Pelini after having had all the worries of a head coach for the last 13/14 years. He’ll be raring to go as a D coordinator. Plus look at the athletes we have here now comparing to 2006/7

O clearly has a different mentality than Aranda, and though it worked, it was always an arranged marriage between CEO and Dave.

Excited to see what this new philosophy looks like on the field. The attacking 1-gap DL is back.

The end of the interview when Pelini gave Miles a fake blitz call and Miles had no clue is awesome. Miles was clueless. That's amazing and not surprising all at the same time.

I don’t care because we are going to have an attacking defense and a defensive coach who will fire up his players!

Pelini is a head case.
Likely a great first year and then it will start fading.

Love the idea of our D line attacking again getting TFLs

Ah...because last time he was here his defense was ranked #3, 4 and then 14, right? Thats the fade youre using?

Wait. Are you describing Aranda's defense?

Interesting to see if he can use Shevlin and the other huge NTs well. Al Woods just couldn't do anything here in that defense.

This. O had to keep Aranda as long as he could because he was/is great but O probably would have never hired Aranda. Not trying to knock on Aranda or say that O didn’t think Aranda was great but he just doesn’t fully agree with that philosophy.

At LSU sightings.

I just don’t think he was very good at LSU. Much like Danielle Hunter the physical skills were there but they were young and raw and probably under coached. Shelvin has skills and physical body to be a wrecking force inside no matter what.

The good news is that Shelvin and Ika are both very agile for NT/DTs. I don't think there will be much issue with them moving to 4-3 DTs. I think our DL are chomping at the bit to be let loose and start making plays. We have a really good DL haul for 2020 with Roy, Guillory, Taylor and Gaye. Possibly Burch if it falls our way. I expect 2020 to be a good D that gets better late, but 2021 should be a top 10 defense at least.

Yep. O is used to having D-lineman being disruptive pass-rushers and guys making TFL's in the backfield. Aranda's DL was, relative to O's approach, just "there" on the LOS. I'd imagine O wanted to kick puppies every time he saw a guy like Chassion drop back in coverage.
