Cody Worsham - Tiger Rag:

Justin McMillan appeared to continue getting the first reps at quarterback. As I watched LSU’s thinning line appear thinner without Ingram, Hines, and Traore, I wonder how tempting McMillan’s elusiveness is for Steve Ensminger. He’s throwing the ball well. It’s clear he’s tightened his release and he’s always had plenty of zip on his throws. When it comes to a combination of mobility and arm, he may have the best blend of each on the roster. Joe Burrow remains the favorite under center, but he will have to earn it.

frick it. Just put the best athlete at QB. Run some ginmick HS offense and call it a day. I'm fed up with mediocre throwing abilities.

So the loss of the RG and two kids who weren’t going to play has now put McMillan as the leader for the competition?

If JM was even serviceable, Burrow wouldn’t be here.

zero chance McMillan's the starter. O didn't go out seeking a transfer just to be a backup. Barring a complete meltdown or injury to Burrow, he's our starter.

I don't think LSU fans want Justin or Lowell as the starter.

They want Joe Burrow, Myles Brennan, or Jordan Loving as the QB starter.

Don't have any info on Traore.

This is what you dummies don’t get.
It would have been extremely detrimental to the spirit of the team to let Burrow prance into first team reps without having ever practiced with any of his teammates before.
For team unity O needs Burrow to show that he is superior to the other QBs for at least a handful of practices before moving him into a first team role.
Say what you want about O but in this instance I agree with his handling of the QB situation.

I don't have a problem with it either, but it's a fine line of making him earn it and getting him the maximum amount of reps to be ready for Miami. That part I have some concerns, but hopefully those concerns will be alleviated quickly in game 1.

we want the guy that can help us win. And all 3 QBs we saw in the spring clearly aren't ready.

Nothing more to it than that.

Pure speculation from some reporter means he’s going to be the starter. You fricks are ridiculous. Burrow isn’t a statue

Concern with Burrow - not his ability at all, big, strong, durable. My concern is the little time he's had to understand and learn the system. I don't believe we can afford mistakes due to lack of understanding the system. In order to combat that play calling may need to watered down to fit???

Concern with Justin - not his ability either. Everyone speaks of his mobility. That's great but with his lack of size he'll get split like a wishbone by SEC defenses. I don't think we want a QB running for his life that is not big and strong enough. I feel the same about Myles.
