For those who may want a split NC (if we lose) remember why you hated USC

This thought occurred to NO ONE.
Thank you for sharing.

Well, I don't want a split NC. So, I'm good.

Its a different animal this year. When that happened the AP was part of the BCS make up. Not this year. It's a totally sererate entity. But I still would not want that.

I'm against a split. If bama wins it's bama's.

USC's AP title is legitimate.
If LSU is awarded the AP title, it will be recognized by the administration and by the rest of the country, and eventually our entire fan base.
I don't see why people make a big deal out of this.

To be fair, this is VERY different.
In 2003, the AP was a PART of the BCS formula. It was one of the inputs in the formula and was a voluntary member of same.
It was AFTER that mess that the AP removed its participation in the BCS formula and the Harris Poll was created to take its place.
So, now it is a totally independent body. I expect that LSu will beat Bama and win BOTH the AP and the BCS.
However, it would be more like the Harris Poll not liking the final BCS results and awarding its own champion to actually be analogous to 2003 and USC

I never hated USC.
I hated that the BCS put an Oklahoma team in the title game when they hadn't won their conference championship.
LSU should have played USC and left no doubt.

Very different indeed. LSU didn't play (and beat) USC in '03.
Bama wins the season score would be 1-1, bama 12-1, LSU 13-1
But it doesn't matter because LSU won't lose in the dome anyway.

Had USC beaten us in '03 reg season it would have been different. I'll recognize a split champ this year because under this scenario we will have SPLIT with Bama.

1. I am actually one of the few people that think that the AP title is more legitimate now that it is not part of the BCS. At least now, they aren't part of a title that they went against.
2. In the unlikely event that we do lose and receive the AP title, I am perfectly fine with Alabama being the one and only legit champion - as long as 2003 LSU is then considered the one and only champion of that year. But I sure as hell won't accept the worst of both worlds.

your smarter than this.
They didn't even play in the NC F***** game. Plus we already beat the team. Do your research.

Once again, screw the AP. The sportswriters whined and cried like a bunch of spoiled children after the BCS formula dared conflict with their OPINIONS, then decided to NOT be a factor in that formula. That means the AP is IRRELEVANT.
Hell, I may as well start my own poll. It consists of one voting member - me. I vote LSU National Champion.
Congrats to Les Miles, his staff and the team. They are the 2011 MTNTIGER National Champs. Well done.
The BCS Championship Game settles it on the field. The team that wins will be the ONLY recognized national champion. PERIOD.

You win you win. You lose you lose.Period. Don't dance around the tree like you are some kind of co champion you aren't.
You know what you say? We beat the National Champions during the regulate season. End of story.

That is all.
The split will only occur if we lose.
This title won't be split.

Half of those 13 titles Bama claims are split titles...though they don't recognize them as so, think they want to let them go?...

Completely different circumstances.
LSU will have more wins, a better season resume, the same number of losses and a road win against this Bama team that would presumably get a neutral site win.
LSU would be the better team. PERIOD. Bama shouldn't even be in the game, and the AP isn't part of the BCS anyhow.

Ok. But my world doesn't operate in a vacuum. And (unfortunately) I can't suspend the reality that we beat them at their place and would in theory have an identical record.
