Just for the record USC didn't play in the NC game, nor were they part of a rematch.

I think this matchup is stupid. How can you say one team is better than the other if they have the same record and those loses come to the other team? This isn't the NFL. Records and rankings are what define college football.

I don't want a split NC

although I acknowledge that the possibility exists, and that means the BCS failed in picking this matchup.

Dude if LSU wins they are champs. If they lose , they aren't. It ain't always fair but that's just the gig. No vacumn. Next morning will be the same.

Win great. Lose, get them next year.

Does LSU or Alabama sign your paycheck? If not enjoy where you are, pray and pull for the best and accept the outcome.

That is what makes a man.

Different scenario than 2003. But LSU will win so it won't matter.

Was Reggie Bush on that team? Didn't they have to forfeit '04 too? Frick USC and the AP.

My manhood isn't defined by wins and losses of a football team I don't play for. Don't overdramatize this.

I simply can't trick my brain to believe something that's not true. Hypothetically.

ETA: would we put the ap trophy in our trophy case?

Not even close to the same. Did USC beat LSU? No, therefore no comparison.

Haha could you imagine the level that the shared hatred of one another a split title would bring about?

No.

It is even more relevant now than it was back then.

In 2003, it was a part of the BCS system. It wasn't even its own entity, yet it was still recognized by the national media.

Now, in 2011, it isn't a part of the BCS system. It is its own separate entity, making it even more relevant than it was in 2003.

Completely different. USC never beat the #1 or #2 that year. If LSU loses, the #1 and #2 teams will have the same number of losses and will be 1-1 against each other. If there is ever an appropriate time for a split champion, that would be the case. USC didn't even qualify for the championship game in 2003. Sure there are some similarities, but still a different situation for the most part. LSU's schedule alone sets them apart too with all the top 5 wins they had this season. Not to mention, LSU will have more wins than any team in the country at the end of the year regardless of the outcome of the BCS CG.

If the AP goes to LSU I'll claim it just to piss the gumps off.

What will be more funny than the usual split attitudes of our fan base over an AP title but the medias/ESPN's treatment of it. They gave credit to USC, probably won't to LSU. Or at least I won't be surprised.

It's still plenty relevant. And it was certainly relevant in CFB when USC was crowned the champs, so it's every bit as relevant a title now as it was then. Besides, the AP Poll is still the oldest poll in college football and is still possibly the most recognized poll out there. And honestly, it has a lot more credibility than the coaches poll.
