I know Burrow and Daniels’ improved dramatically their second year, but I don’t recall them regressing like Nuss. Plus Nuss has been in this system for 10 years it seems. I think we are seeing what we get with Nuss.

Daniels was a 3-year starter before arriving at LSU, but I see what you’re getting at

How good was our O line last night? Why don't we start there?

Daniels definitely struggled against Arkansas and A&M after playing well in the Florida/Ole Miss/Bama stretch. But I do see your point.

The O line doesn’t throw recklessly and try and convert a 3rd and 2 with a 100 yard bomb. But I do agree the O line is a huge disappointment.

Nuss has fundamental issues . Will not run 4 yards for a first down , probably due to dislike of contact . Stares down receivers . Inability to identify blitzers quickly . Throws across his body into the middle of the field . Doesn’t understand coverages , in spite of the fact that his father is a QB coach . Not always accurate throwing on the run . Calls unnecessary time outs . Right now he isn’t NFl draft material .

There were plenty of ugly games in both year 1s for both guys.

JB home vs bama
JD at atm

That’s not a complete list for either guy.

I am going to get downvoted for sure, but Nuss lately shows sign of Max Johnson. It seems there are wonderful flashes followed by what the f*cks!

That’s actually a valid comparison.

Nuss has poor mechanics

With Nuss you get someone who gambles on throws. Feels he can always hit that tight hole of defenders which comes with interceptions. If he can’t fix the interceptions it will always hurt the team having him at QB.

Nuss is scared of contact. He’ll never be a top tier QB with that mentality. He won’t run and get 4 yards to help the offense. He won’t step up and deliver the ball bc he’s scared of getting hit. He constantly throws off his back foot. All this makes the O line’s job even harder. Plus our play calling is downright strange.

The offensive line is a massive failure. Bear in mind that this is BK’s strength.

Nuss has the shanks. He is in his own head. A typical symptom is overthrows and forcing the ball.

I’d say Nuss had higher highs than Burrow’s first year starting but much lower lows. It’s crazy how much he’s regressed over the last several weeks. It’s like he’s lost his confidence

Daniels had a 1:1 TD-INT ratio the season before his first LSU season. He developed a lot as a very experienced college QB. And I think that's Kelly's main strength as a coach -- development in the passing game. In other areas, he seems just sort of aloof and behind.
Something that has caught my attention is how much yelling Kelly has done with Nussmeier this season. I don't remember seeing all that with Daniels, and I don't think it's a good idea to be doing that. You want QBs and kickers to be poised and in their rhythm with skills. Yelling in their faces doesn't help with that in my opinion. At other positions, yeah, maybe it's helpful. But I don't think it's a good way to communicate with QBs and kickers.

You can’t step up and into a throw in the pocket when your center and substitute guard are constantly getting blown up and pushed into your lap. DJ Chester has been terrible all year and it’s making Nuss sometimes see ghosts that aren’t there, rush throws/reads, and bail out to throw on the run.

I don’t care how good Will Campbell is (and Emery hasn’t been the stalwart we’d hoped he’d be) you don’t have a pocket without at least decent interior line play. Echols probably isn’t close to ready since he’s a true freshman, which is why we haven’t seen a change made, but this is the heart of our offensive problems and it’s not getting solved this year. The best we can hope to do is mitigate it by changing the offense to fit the situation.

Reluctance to run when necessary is a big problem with Nussmeire. He has not been a good leader in these last two outings. We need mismatches like Taylor to get an edge over our opponents. Maybe, we need transfers from Vandy? Maybe, we need some of their coaches on our staff? Whatever the problem is with this team we definitely need a lot of help. That game yesterday was so embarrassing. I hope this mess can be fixed sooner than later.
