It seems like it was a little complex. There were direct quotes of texts that are out there. If I remember correctly, it went along the lines of his previous player at VCU had an ex girlfriend who was making threats to go to the media. wade helped her make a down payment for a car and a couple other payments I believe. I don’t believe it was ever stated or released what she would be going to the media with, but most can assume it was arranging payment for players or their families.

So I'll bitch when he goes to Bama all I want. Me being realistic enough to realize he isn't coming back to LSU doesn't mean I have anything to do with him going to Bama. I don't want him there. I want him at LSU. But it ain't happening. Why would he come back to LSU with the guy that ran him off still here??

How would going go Bama "stick it" to LSU. Bama is not a rival to LSU except in football. If any team is a "rival" to LSU in basketball it would be Arkansas or Kentucky. Not Bama.

Oats was considered for the Kentucky job last year. He signed a big deal with Alabama that has a substantial buyout if another school hired him. UNC doesn’t invest more than Kentucky. As much? Maybe. But not more.
I think LSU should move on from McMahon too. But if you are going to go into freak out mode over one LSU win, at least do so with an understanding of the sport as a whole. The more likely scenario would be Beard to Indiana and Wade to Ole Miss (though I think better jobs than Ole Miss will be open…including, after last night, the Oklahoma job)

Oats ain’t leaving Bama, especially since they’re investing heavily in basketball and winning a natty, so just stop with that pipe dream. Bama’s becoming a basketball power nationally so him leaving for another program is a lateral move at this point.
