Ryzleman was a top portal arm. Cooper was a top portal arm. Gervase was a top portal arm. Lansville was a top high school arm. Grant Taylor was a top high school arm. Ty Floyd and Blake Money were both top high school arms the year before.

Reyz, Gervase, Floyd and Cooper we’re all guys we relied on all year. What point do you think you’re making?

You’re upset because we didn’t turn a couple of freshmen into weekend starters?

Well, only Gervase out of that group was really consistent. Cooper was very up and down. Ryzleman was inconsistent in conference play and Floyd didn’t come on until the end. Out of those arms plus Money, Taylor, or Lansville we couldn’t find one legit starter?

You saw the games, other than Hilliard did you see anyone that could go five or six innings in the SEC? I didn’t.

Instead I saw some older, one dimensional guys competing hard; and some young kids trying to learn. I didn’t set any elite talents like a Nola or a Gausmsn; or a freshman with the savy and poise of a Mestapey or Poche’.

That’s my point. I refuse to believe the recruiting services missed on all those guys. I’m not asking for a Lange or Nola. I’m asking for a McCune. The fact the we couldn’t develop a single guy is concerning.

This^^^^. Hard to win a series with a 8+ era and being behind late every game. Gotta give JJ a couple years see how it shakes out. Let him get his own guys.

I’m comparing him to what Schlossnagle has done and Johnson had one good year while in the mediocre Pac12 and he was usually middle of the pack

A&M returned much more than lsu did.

“I get he didn't have the pitching”

This is everything in the regional format. And yet we almost advanced against a team with a far superior pitching staff. I’d say CJJ did an exceptional job with what he had. And after the first 5 hitters we had too many almost an automatic outs in the lineup. But we had no one else to put in there. This #1 signing class and the portal should make a huge difference and another step forward in year two.

How many did he make last year? Not near as many as this year? Which means his coaching was worse?

Do you realize how absurdly stupid this is?? I mean obviously you don’t. So you are saying it was Johnson’s coaching that caused Doughty to make physical errors? Did he not hit him enough ground balls? Did he tell him don’t worry about defense Cade, as long as you hit?? Exactly what did he do to coach him to be a worse defensive player this year. You’re exactly the genius who yells we need to practice more foul shooting when a team struggles at the line in a game. Because it has to be something that simple right??

This is not even remotely true and you say it as if it’s a fact.

Fielding was an easy excuse for everyone to point at early. However, the fielding from the middle infield improved and did not cost us a single game in this Tournament. If anything Milazzo being injured and not being able to catch was the biggest defensive liability we had in the regional. Which would not be coaching. We played our best option.

We had one of the best offenses in the country yes, but good pitching is going to beat good hitting. And we just did not have the same arms to hold Southern Miss enough for our offense to win the game. He did a lot better than I expected.
