Dude, your way off. Emery had two guys coming and he picked the correct one to slow down, the inside guy and Joe was not pointing at him to get out of the game.
Have no clue what your seeing.
If you want to get someone out of the game during those two plays, it needs to be AUSTIN DECULUS!(76)
This guy is the worse lineman we have at pass protection.
He's the reason Zumiga runs Emery down on that first running play. He lets Zumiga run right by him and catch Emery.!
Also , the Alabama game he was getting blown away by the outside pass rush.
Go back and watch !!

To be fair to Emery, Deculus was just as shitty at blocking on the play right before that.
This past Alabama game (76) was blown apart a lot of pass coverage.

Don't pretend that you didn't edit the post to change
You thought this was a pass play for Emory to be blocking too until someone else pointed out what you missed.
You can downvote all you want, we all saw it

In the SEC..you HAVE to be able to pass block

Click on that link, go to 41:00 minute mark and watch the play. Watch it to the very end and you will see Burrow get up and point to get Emery off the field.
Incorrect

You didn't quote my whole post. I know why you didn't.

Then why did you edit to add more than what you originally said? Why would he need to know how to pass block for a screen he's supposed to catch?
Just take your L on that part of it.

Honestly, 76 is our weak spot on the O-Line.
I noticed it early in the year on pass coverage, but the Alabama game coaches must have definitely noticed it and every time they needed to put pressure on Borrow, they brought it on 76 side 75% of the time.
His run blocking is ok, but we need better protection for Joe.

quote:exactly. He didn't know the call, at most he was supposed to chip and present target. Probably wasn't even supposed to chip... just turn and present target if DL/LB rushed as anticipated or release upfield a little if not.
Except when its a screen play and you are the only option for the QB to throw the ball to, and instead of running your route you decided to try and pass block.... Which is what happened on this play
Those are plays that costs seasons, not games.

Watch in 0.25x speed. He looks at Emery and points him off the field.
Agree with OP. He made the decision. Great leader

I sure hope Emery and Price Davis are learning from CEH on how to be a complete back. This is not unusual at all for a star high school running back to show up here not being able to pass block. They were probably never asked to before.
If you're going to be an every down back and plan on playing at the next level you have to be able to run, catch and block.

burrow was just pointing to the team to line up...
Or giving the "hey I got a first down" gesture (which just happened to be sideways instead of downfield.

Again i wasnt really trying to discuss what he was doing. This was more of me telling everyone what he was doing.
