Crybabies.

All you know is what the announcers say. And they were so far FSU's and Martin's arse all night, why would you even listen to them.

The NUMBERS say pitch to Mnedoza.

Want something to blame on Mainieri? How about zero situational LHPs? How about starting .125 in the post season Hal Hughes? How about coaching players about smart baserunning?

I'm not real happy with PM these days either. May be losing touch with the game a bit.

But I'm OK with that call.

Your a retard, Best average doesn’t make best hitter. Mendoza is an all American and high draft pick. He’s their best hitter. 1st base open, sets a force at every base, don’t pitch to him

Wrong

Martin is hitting .250 in the postseason, Mendoza .409. Martin was 0/4 tonight. Martin is a freshman.

You’re wrong. Paul was wrong. Delete this thread.

Wow! That’s actually a well thought out and convincing argument! A lost art

Hilarious that you believe this is a legitimate excuse in this situation.

If it was bases loaded with no outs, sure, the k rate matters. In this situation, you don't need a k. You walk him and pitch to the objectively worse hitter in conference and the post season. You also have a force, which doesn't hurt.

Mendoza is an MLB caliber hitter. Martin was probably thinking “are they really throwing to him?”

The issue here was not pitching to him it was throwing fastballl after fastball. Same situation as yesterday when we gave up the 3 run bomb! Dunn has a tendency to keep challenging hitters even when the situation dictates otherwise. No reason Mendoza shouldn’t have seen a breaking ball in the dirt at least once when he had 2 strikes !

How about the fact that we only scored 4 runs over the last 19 innings of the series? This team wasted 2 great performances by relievers in this series because they cannot work counts or run the bases any better than a little league team.

A walk takes the pressure off of the defense and creates three potential force outs. There is zero justification to pitch to Mendoza in that situation. Zilch.

First, you’re entirely wrong.

Had we given him an IBB, we might still be playing and may have secured a game 3 by now.

Yeah, yeah... Easy to say in hindsight. But many of us including me said the same as soon as he stepped into the batter’s box.

It’s not that LSU is a bad hitting team. It’s everything else involved in offense part of baseball that they need help. I think they actually outhit FSU in the 2 games

I guarantee you ask a 100 head coaches in D-1 baseball and 99 will say they would of walked Mendoza in that situation. You are dead wrong on pitching to him because the numbers said so. You would make a terrible coach

How you let Fontenot throw all those pitches is beyond me. Probably should have let Hilliard start the inning...

This guy gets it. You create the force there 100% of the time unless the batter is hitting .170.
