It included their conf tourney. FSU has played a lot of baseball the past few weeks. There’s a reason why you get season stats then post season stats when watching mlb games in October. It matters what a hitter is doing now more so than what he was doing in April when you’re charting a hitter in the post season. They’re not looking at what guys did against NC State in March. They’re looking at what they did in Athens.

Lester's furious google search didn't come with baseball knowledge.

Martin batting .250 post season. Also, he’s a freshman, not a 3rd round pick. You don’t pitch to Mendoza because he’s the most likely guy on their team to drive in a run, hence his team leading rbi. It doesn’t make sense to pitch to him. Give yourself more force outs and better odds.

Couple final points:
1) For most ranters (including the idiot who rejects my initial post because it was "logical and well thought out"), if Mainieri decides to walk Mendoza and Martin gets the winning hit, they would be whining about how stupid he was to walk Mendoza.
Ranters = clueless schmoes.
2) Do you think Coach Martin knows who is his best hitter is? Do you think you put your best hitter (and my best hitter in this instance I mean RBI guy - contact hitter who will clean up ducks on the pond) in the 4 spot? Notice that Martin was batting in the 4 hole.
3) In the situation, pitching to Mendoza was NOT a bad call. Quite frankly, walking Mendoza and pitching to Martin would not have been a bad call either. In the situation, PM tried to go with the momentum, maintain his pitcher's confidence, and just get the guy in front of him.
Given many bad decisions Mainieri made during the run, this was NOT a bad decision. It was a close call and he went with his gut and the momentum of his pitcher. I don't think you fault him for that.
