Missouri extended him at 2 million a year in December-could have gotten cheaper before the extension

Mizzou's extension in Dec was only for 1.1 mil/yr and a couple yrs added on. They gave him a $100k raise per yr in the extension.

Kelly should’ve never let him leave.

I'm happy for the hire as well, but baffled at the contract. I guess you're paying for potential. I have no idea how more coaches contracts aren't incentive laden.
Defense in Top 25 - 250k
Defense in top 10 - 500k
Defense in Top 5 - 1m
Win the SEC - 250k
CFB playoff - 250k with 250k for each win.
Natty - 1m

Guaranteed to get a boost

Lot of assumptions because we don’t know if Minter was even interested in LSU

I’ll reserve judgement until he puts his staff together. If he brings in some slam dunk coaches… frick it.

Yea but then there’s the hazard pay for living in Baton Rouge. That brings it closer to $2M.

As happy as all my friends and family were last night with Baker they were all saying how nobody could be upset about this hire. I told them just wait…..they’ll be some morons tonight or tomorrow. Congratulations….you're it.

You sure you know how to read? I’m not convinced you can and I don’t have the crayons to explain it to you.

Only in your imagination. In the real world, salaries and buyouts have never stopped LSU from doing whatever it wants. Curley Hallman was the last coach we didn't fire because the AD was cheap. It's a different world now.

Kelly was taking over a program that was in shambles. The culture was toxic. He really couldn't afford to keep too many of those coaches, or else the shock of drastic change wouldn't occur. The locker room needed a 180° shift. He did keep Brad Davis, but that's only 1 out of about 11 coaches. At the time, Davis was a much bigger name than Baker, especially in regards to recruiting. So that made sense. Kelly even changed personnel in the strength and conditioning group, which included a guy who was at LSU for like 20 years.

Time to move forward and we have a very good DC. If one is inclined to look into the rear view mirror, it was very costly to have let Miller walk 2 years ago when he apparently was willing to take a job coaching safeties at Missouri and very safe to assume he would’ve done the same at LSU given his ties to the state. Instead, Kelly hired Cooks. Almost as stupid as hiring House.
It was a multi-million dollar mistake and cost LSU dearly on and off the field.
