For 2.5 million a year, we should have pulled in the Michigan or OSU DC

Baker is a decent hire, but not worth the highest pay of all coordinators in the country
Anyone is better than house, but we need to recruit better hs kids and transfers on defense

That's what I don't understand. Why pay the most money for less than the best?

He was on the hook for $2M at Mizzou. Had to give him a raise. The market will reset higher for others.

Are you paying his salary? No? Then let the adults handle the hiring and salaries.

Has anyone ever told you that YOU should be in charge of anything and everything? Because if not, YOU should be in charge of anything and everything. YOU know it all.

He just got a contract for 1.1 from mizzou with a million dollar buy out. We doubled his money. He hasn’t been DC long enough for 2.5
We should pay that kinda money for a proven coordinator on offense or defense

Glad to get baker as well but do agree that the price does seem rather high. I'm guessing it turned into a bidding War with Mizz to get him. I think he should have been paid top 10 money but not top 2 or 3. To Bakers credit players seem to like him and play hard for him. Recruiting seems a strong point as well with recruiting ties in the south. If he does well at LSU he will likely be a HC somewhere in the next 2 to 4 years.

Supposedly missou offered him 2.5 to stay and we matched.

Minter for Michigan makes 900k

We could have offered him 1.5 and could have had a much better DC for cheaper
Osu DC makes 1.96

Missouri extended him at 2 million a year in December-could have gotten cheaper before the extension

Baker is good. You guys don't know if Ohio State or Michigan's coordinators are as good as Baker.

Number 1 Michigan is about to shell out whatever it takes to keep him if harbaugh stays

2 if harbaugh leaves Minter is probably going to take over.

Legit question…do the DC’s for OSU or Michigan have any ties to Louisiana? Can they recruit as well In Louisiana as the guy they just hired who has Louisiana ties or would they have to tap into midwestern contacts?

yeah you could’ve paid the Michigan guy $1.5MM but can’t that dude recruit S. LA and Texas like Baker who has ties to Houston, BR and NOLA? doubtful. Jimmys and Joes, fellas. you just need “sufficient” X’s and O’s. Last year we had like…a lowercase R.

I’ll say he’s better than decent since Kelly immediately went after Baker. So that should say something right there. Yes 2+ million is steep for any DC but I really think LSU has a good one.

Also if LSUs offense continues to be tops in the conference or country then we don’t have to have an elite DC. We just need a guy who can bring in the talent needed and keep us in the top 20 or 30 and I believe Baker is good enough to do that.
