Obviously, you couldn’t turn down Saban. I wish they would give him a bigger role almost like ad head coach roll where he gets to name his successor.
Get the program back in good shape and hand the rains over to a saban mini me of whoever that may be I have no idea

Like it or not, Alabama is Saban's legacy....at least 95% of it.
That's were he retired and I don't see him taking a risk of tarnishing that in anyway.

I may be wrong, who really knows!

I would like a coach who wins early and often. IDGAF about his age.

It’s possible that could be done by a young and less experienced coach.

But my money is on an older, wiser, more experienced guy.

I would tell him, you brought our program back from the dust and now it is time for you to do it again. Give him a short term contract and Saban can name a coach in waiting.

If he declines, then you have to go with Kiffin or lanning.

I'll admit that a part of me would absolutely LOVE this, but we have to be honest here... Saban left the NFL because the players were more about the money than the team. NIL has done this to college football now and I'm pretty certain that he wants no part of it - even if he does have that little bit of a purple and gold ember that burns deep inside somewhere.

He'll be 74 this Friday. I'm pretty certain he's quite content to do a few commercials each year and sit in on ESPN Game Day. He's the most respected name in college football right now and coming to LSU again could (and most likely would) jeopardize the mythical standing he currently enjoys.

Still - it's kinda fun to dream, huh?

I'd certainly gage his interest in leading the coaching search if he were interested. But I do not think he will coach again.

yes, you make that call.

You don't NOT make that call to the GOAT coach.

Just don't expect much to come of it for the various reasons (NIL, age, etc.) mentioned above.

But you listen if he wants to talk about being AD if it is anyone but Woodward making that call also.

I seriously would appreciate bringing Saban on for part of a search committee. He could be the committee for all I cared.

After what happen to Bill at UNC, I am confident he wants to protect his legacy. It is a new era with NIL, he might not perform like he did in the past. Let him ride out retirement.

Most of my older clients live nowhere near their business ventures. Guess why. Do you want to know what old extremely rich guys with grandkids like to do? NOT manage the day to day crap. That is a young man's game. They actually like being nowhere near them because they are less likely to be bothered by crap that the managers they pay should be taking care of. They will take a call for the big things or take a chartered flight in if needed. They take their quarterly or annual distribution and report their K-1 on their tax return and head back to the golf course or the beach.
