Not really. Think about it, hundreds of million dollar was bet on the game. So it does take millions to move a line. They don't move it on every $1,000 bet.

I can't read this anymore. When something as atrocious as the game the other night goes down, one's mind wanders to all sorts of possibilities. I'm like the poster earlier, to even imagine that a "fix" was on nauseates me. Literally.

There was no fix. Vegas got inside information. This is what Finebaum was talking about Monday afternoon and it is what Sheridan referred to and it is why the money moved so drastically. Apparently, it is also connected to the complete flatness of the team.

What I don't understand, though, is why the coaches called the game they called? JC Copeland up the middle on 3rd and 4? Really? But, by then, we had already given up. I never thought I'd see that out of this team.

Thinking a fix is way over the line. Back to earth people. shite went down, very possible. Absolutely no fix. Why would you two even think that. No one on this thread suggested that.

Really? It's much more nauseating to think that Les Miles just quit on his team for no reason. I'd rather know that something external happened that caused our poor play rather than knowing that Miles is a quitter when times get tough in the biggest spotlight.

No one suggested it? Maybe my imagination running wild. Sorry, guys, I'm still pretty distraught.

I don't think they quit, but I think they had stubborn tunnel vision as far as game plan. They didn't have a backup plan, or make any adjustments at the half. They came out and continued with the same stale shite they did all year, except Bama didn't turn the ball over and we didn't return any punts.

Slow flow...does the rumor suggest some sort of fix?

Yes. Supposedly there are a lot of people in the know that believe the game was fixed.

quitting. it's semantics. they knew that it wasn't going to work and that we were going to lose. Yet, they did nothing. that's quitting. the coach(es) quit on the players. and that is unacceptable. I hope that it is brought up every day that Les Miles is still our coach. He quit on this team, and he needs to answer for that.

I know it's highly unlikely, but I really, really, hope this is not true!

I don't remember a lot of movement on Monday, but I know it went from LSU -1 to LSU +2-2.5 on a lot of books just before the weekend.

I am at an industrial site in north Alabama. All the gumps are saying the money took a big leap Monday in Alabama's favor. Something went down on Monday.Could be bullshite.

quote:

I believe it. Finebaum would just be saying that Miles is an idiot and blasting LSU if it wasn't. He also said on Monday that he heard about something before the game that was very disturbing. It was very negative about LSU and it gave him pause. He said this Monday afternoon and I thought he was full of it, but after hearing what Danny Sheridan said and seeing the money move like it did and then seeing how the team came out from the very first play, I am apt to believe him.

Finebaum is a jerk, but he is as well connected as anyone in the SEC, if not more. He plays to the idiots in Alabama, but he was an investigative reporter at one time and when he gets serious, you better watch out.

What is funny is that he didn't say the Monday thing with any excitement or relish. He seemed genuinely troubled when he said it. I didn't even listen to the show yesterday, but if he had the same attitude and is saying something happened after the game, my curiosity is now officially up.

Professional gamblers conduct a lot more research than most might think. They have sources for information covering minute elements of the game. Things like the kicker missed a few extra times in practice on Thursday. If something major went down, you can be certain it became known. These guys may place bets, but they don't like to "gamble".

Bottomline is that something went down before the game and we'll find out soon enough what exactly it was.
