I was shocked when he scrambled for the first down and just as shocked he didnt do it more often.

And yet he comes back and his last two throws of the game are MONEY

Nuss made the throw to win. That’s clutch.

Now hopefully they show him the film where he could easily have run for 15 yards multiple times and he decides to run and slide if the seas open before him again. That’s the only hole in his game now.

Yep. Just let a team know you are there. Nothing fancy. Not asking him to run it for 20 yards. Just sometimes keep that RPO and run it. I don’t know how fast he is running but he can’t be so slow that he can’t run the ball for 3 to 5 yards every now and then.

I’ve seen post from people here tonight talking about “who was better their first year, Nuss or JD”. The truth is, they are COMPLETE opposites their first year. JD wouldn’t sling and ran a little too much and Nuss just wants to sling it and never run. You really can’t even compare the two in any real context.

Nuss never running would be fine if we had Leonard Fournette and Clyde Edward as our running backs but we don’t. We need there to be more “options” for the defense to have to worry about in our run game. We just don’t have that power back like LF or that shifty, quick and agile as frick back like CEH.

O line gave him all night….

Not true! All of his mistakes came when he was pressured…..

He absolutely did and he deserves props for that shite. I damn near swallowed my dip on that game tying TD throw. That shite was so fricking money it was crazy. Kids got all the potential in the world. He’s just got some things he needs to work out.

I was hard on him privately at home and texts. Not on here.

But he got it done. Great for him and the Tigers.

He was close to hitting a lot of big plays. Some were the WRs fault. He does go for the kill shot way too much.

Exactly. There have been countless times where he was wide open to run it for at the very least 4 or 5 yards. I get it. He’s a slinger. There’s nothing wrong with that, but sometimes your QB has got to run the ball in college especially. At least let a defense know the potential is there and someone needs to at least be looking out for it. It helps bring pressure off your receivers some as well as opens up options for your actually running backs if on run plays they don’t ALWAYS get handed the ball.

He is what we all knew he would be. A baller who takes risks. I think everybody and their grandma knew he was gonna throw some INTs this year, but also that he was gonna make big plays. He did both tonight. And won.

He has bad mechanics throwing off his back foot a lot. He needs to realize that the game moves crazy fast so either tuck it and run or let it sail. Glad we got the W.

Kudos to Nuss for staying in the game mentality. I, like a lot of people, wanted to throw him under the bus and figured he’s not the guy. But when they needed it he was nails. Takes some special balls to still believe in yourself when you’re having probably your worst game. They’ll go through walls for him now.

The people wanting to pull Nuss are just as stupid as the people who wanted to pull JD. Just like with JD, you can clearly see the potential there to be an amazing QB. Nuss can throw absolutely pinpoint bombs most of the time. He just tries to do it at times where the better option would be for him to take off running.

I just read in a post above someone saying he might be “slightly” injured in a leg area. Maybe that’s why he doesn’t run it. I could see that being an issue. We sure as frick don’t need him going down for any games and definitely not for the season.

Been super busy and haven’t been able to watch much this season. But the little bit I have watched is his foot work. He throws way too many passes falling back even if he’s not pressured. The talent is there, nutts is there. Combine all that with fundamentals he’s a Sunday starter in the NFL.

Back in 2018 against Mississippi State, Burrow was 16-28 for 129 yards and an interception. The leading receiver was Dee Anderson with 3 catches for 29 yards. Clearly, having an off game or two doesn’t mean that a QB won’t continue to develop into a star.

Also fun fact, MSU QB Nick Fitzgerald finished that game 8 of 24 for 59 yards and 4 interceptions. Also 131 yards rushing, but good lord what a stat line.

He definitely missed some, but he generally didn’t have open receivers to throw to. Our play design/play calling seemed poor and our receivers couldn’t get separation. It seemed we didn’t give him short routes and dump offs to help him get in a rhythm.

Past games we lamented a lack of deep balls. This game made up for that and made me miss the short/quick pass.

You dump on the Tigers every game.

It’s pitiful.

He always seems to be throwing off his back foot or off balance on several deeps balls. The TD to AA and Lacey he stepped into them and they were beautiful. Is that bad mechanics or is he feeling pressure when sometime I don’t see any?

He had a number of bad plays. So did Sloan and the rest of the offense, minus the Oline. But Nuss had 337 yards passing, so it is not like he only played well for 1 quarter. It was hit and miss most of the night. Thankfully, he was clutch at the end. Granted, he threw the ball 50 times, but let's not forget the years we hoped to have 200 yards passing. Nuss played better last night than a number of our past QBs. And it was possibly his worst game as a starter for us. I am not in the camp that is criticizing Nuss much. We have an NFL caliber QB playing for us.

He made some bad decisions but that’s expected for a guy starting his 7th game ever.

His WRs dropped some very catchable balls too. Lack of a run game and a downright SHITTY RZ offense play caller, he’s making the most of it.

If he comes back next year (which he needs to), I think we see an unstoppable offense if OC can mature a bit
