WHAT IF I TOLD YOU IN 2015
Posted on 1/24/20 at 8:11 am to Penrod
If shite goes South then the new TV deal, at that point, would easily address any buyout. RELAX.

Woodward last two big deals have equaled 112 million.

Easy money once that abc/espn contract rolls in

This will be unpopular because folks don’t consider all the possibilities, but six year guaranteed contracts should not be handed out. I can understand Bama doing it for Saban, and maybe Clemson for Dabo. But only because they have proven to have staying power. If Orgeron puts up three straight 3 loss seasons, with losses to Bama every year, this board will be clamoring for him to be fired, and LSU would have a $20 million payout on their hands.
pay the man national championship money
he earned it
if it burns you...oh well

Good. He deserves to be paid among the highest in the country. He just whipped 8 out of the top 10 highest paid coaches in the country.

I don't believe this will be unpopular with most fans.

Hopefully this doesn’t break the model of paying him less so we can pay out the arse for top staff, i.e. the Binder model.
Posted on 1/24/20 at 8:13 am to WhoGeaux
HE earned it that's for sure

I would argue that this is actually a discount. This puts him at #5 highest paid now. Half way into this contract O will probably be in the 7-12 highest paid coaches, but dabo Will be in the leading the charge at a much higher rate. And by that point Sec TV money is about to go up by about 15 million per school when it switches from CBS to ESPN/abc or fox.

The championship brought in more than enough money to up the assistant pool.

EDIT - for a major football program/conference.

Not even close to being true.

You pay the man who produces. This a fair contract in modern CFB, and was eared by Coach O. Take a look around other major programs and what they pay coaches that din’t Win conference or national championships.

You and Penrod please relax.
The man just had one of the best seasons ever for any college team and he deserves the raise. Hell, he is 11-1 in his last 12 games against top 10 teams and beat 7 top 10 teams, AND beat 7 of the top 10 highest paid coaches in 2019 alone!! He deserves every penny.
