Les Miles showed signs of being mentally handicapped while winning games. Ed orgeron runs a disciplined team. The comparisons aren't justified.

I liked Les Miles but it was time for him to go.
The circus on the LSU sideline on game day was a big reason (in addition to 1970's offense).

What is the deal with all these pencil dick negative motherfrickers busting up in this thread to shite all over Coach O and his raise?
They've been bitching for three years. Now that the season is over they feel free to become vaginal again.

So we were busy extending O instead of addressing our assistant needs. Nice. One team one heartbeat

Was Gene chizik a top 10 coach in CFB immediately after he and Cam won it all?

A previous coach was over paid after ONE championship. If O gets another championship in a couple years, then He would deserve a big payday!

Yeah not a fan of this honestly
Our AD seems to love to overpay which could leave us in a bind just like A&M with Jimbob

O gets paid but all of his staff leaves for more money. Maybe he should’ve take care of a couple guys instead of that fat check?

I love Ed O but this is in excess.
It might be the market rate, but I agree it is excessive. No college coach should be paid this kind of money. I think college football coaches should be capped at about $500k per year by NCAA regulations. These are coaches of student athletes, amateurs playing under NCAA regulations, and their (the coaches) pay should be commensurate with that. If these coaches think they can make more than that doing something else, then go do that if you want more pay.

Just b/c LSU fans don't ascribe to the "lightning in a bottle" theory, doesn't mean it doesn't exist elsewhere.
you will always find people that have that sort of thought process, in all walks of life, in all parts of this country. But the majority of people don't think like that. Coach O seems to be well liked and have a large following in southern California and could very well be pursued by USC if they thought they had a shot at him.

I'm not disgreeing with you, but the market is what defines these salaries. Bama, and now Clemson, paying rock star salaries. Jimbo at A&M signs for $7.5M without winning shite. I guess if you ask Georgia fans, USC fans, or Texas fans about Orgeron's salary they would tell us to shut up and pay the man.

and I'm not disagreeing with that. It is what it is. Being the way things are these days, and being what the market is, we are getting Orgeron at a bargain rate, or at least a "fair market" rate.

I cannot believe all the down votes. Look coach O has earned the doe, however, the buyout is the issue. Did LSU not learn from Aleava and Miles, Bertman & Miles? Coach O is not going anywhere. Penrod is correct. I’m excited as anyone about the results of this season, but to get carried away, and not leave LSU a less expensive way out is not good. you can bet, those that down voted Penrod, would be screaming the loudest about the buyout, if coach O had a couple of bad seasons.

How much of the $42 is guaranteed?

Good to hear. Geaux Coach O.

I won’t deny that you have the potential to be correct but Les Miles was handed the keys of a high end Lamborghini while Orgeron was handed a low end Ferrari. Both inherited good things but I feel like Orgeron had more work to do to get us this National Championship than what Les Miles had to do. This isn’t shitting on Miles just stating that I think Orgeron has proven that he can build a championship caliber team. He now has to prove he can maintain one. I think he can do it but we will find out.
