Rich Rodriguez was a home run hire compared to O. Not many saw him running Michigan into the ground. Many here saw O doing just that.

The rich rod thing was not a good fit, but at least he was a successful HC in a major conference.

The Michigan equivalent would be that they hired Lloyd Carr’s DL coach to be the new head coach. When you put it that way, it’s really baffling what Alleva did.

RR didn't live up to the expectations based on his resume.

O is perfectly in line with his resume.

So nope.

No, it is not just you ... I see it the same way. You can even make strong comparisons to Nebraska.

Consistently ranked winning programs firing successful coaches for both not winning impressively enough and not changing their offensive systems to a more popular modern style. That is exactly what happened at all 3 schools.

The irony is that some LSU fans thought that Miles made LSU a national joke, instead it's O and it's happening in a very public way (ESPN certainly hasn't been shy about it, USA Today isn't holding back). It's hard to climb back into national prominence, yet very easy to fall. My fear is attracting a true top level coach in 3 years (when I believe O will finally be fired) instead of having to take a chance on an up and comer. Having a nationally recognized HC is worth it's weight in rankings gold and that is what CFB is all about if you want to be in the discussion and covered nationally.

It's the exact opposite, actually.

The problem in Ann Arbor is that Rodriguez wasn't a Michigan man.

The problem in Baton Rouge is that Orgeron IS an LSU man.

That’s the problem. Orgeron hated LSU from his sophmore year in college until he got the job here. He coached at Ole Miss, Tenn, and USC. Only after Miles offered him a job coaching DL did he become mister “I love it there, this is my dream job” man.

No. That's not enough.

Imagine if the Michigan AD nearly fired Lloyd Carr at the end of one season, botched it, kept Carr on with a razor thin margin... THEN fired Carr, mid-season, only to replace him with the DL coach / Recruiting coordinator with a laundry list of suspicious behavior, a failed record as a HC at a mid-level school in the B10 and limited prospects elsewhere.

Oh, and then imagine the Michigan AD decided, after striking out with the top coaching candidate (Les Miles), to keep the DL coach as permanent HC AND give him a $12M buyout.

That's what Joe Alleva did. It's staggering in context.

Dumbass, this is nearly just like the Brady Hoke Saga with our CAJUN version! Even worse, because Hoke took Michigan to the Sugar Bowl his first year.

I disagree. Hoke was a “Michigan man” after the prior failure. At least they went for a winner initially.

This is what happens when a fan base is tired of being second to bama.

That's actually a spot on comparison. Michigan had some balls to go after a very successful NFL head coach and landed him.

Have a down vote! Lol. Rich would be a home run, can’t miss, top shelf hire compared to this colossal goat F@(& of a coach.

Zero is an absolute complete joke.
