2007 Florida. Gators were coming off a loss to I think Auburn. They had a bye before they played us and Meyer had never lost back to back. To top it off place was rocking the entire night and LSU had to rally when it seemed victory was not in the cards. Tebow was unstoppable that year, but LSU someone stopped him just enough.

And there's the 5 4th downs as well.

"The final score: Stanford 24 USC 23."

You could hear a pin drop as they pulled the chains tight to measure the 5th forth down conversion. Then you couldn't hear a bomb go off after they called 1st down.

Even though the Tigers lost that game, the crowd gave them a huge ovation that seemed to go on for a long time. While heartbroken at the loss, the crowd showed immense pride and love for a team that gave its best. Truly one of the greatest games ever played in Tiger Stadium.

It's been nearly 34 years and I still remember it like it was yesterday.

One image I still remember is being at the student gate, looking up and seeing a sign hanging out of one of the North Stadium windows, "Beat the Condoms".

Maybe it was just being in the student section, but it was the loudest I ever heard it, and I've been to many home games since then.

And yes, a whole lot of people stayed behind to applaud that terrific effort.

I understand why, but the 2007 Auburn game really gets overlooked--Flynn to Byrd still gives me goosebumps.

Also, I'm surprised no one's mentioned what I call Earthwuake II: 1996 Auburn. They had just come off an undefeated season, were ranked in the top 5, and had beaten us thanks to a boatload of pick 6's the year before. It was my sophomore year, and my parents were in town for the came. It was so intense, my mom bruised the inside of her hands clapping so hard.

A different take since all of mine have been mentioned. VT in 2007 defined LSU football and fans for me. It was a few months after the shooting. Before the game, VT fans were treated to the pure LSU hospitality that sometimes gets overshadowed by bad stories. Pregame, a nice tribute to the victims with a respectful silence and standing O for the parachutes. Then we proceeded to totally destroy them on the field. Typical early top ten match up atmosphere. Just a great night to be a tiger in the stadium.
This was my first game, I was a freshman from out of state. What an absolutely perfect way to be introduced to a gameday experience. And then to follow it up with Florida and Auburn at home that year...

But the game I remember most vividly that season was against South Carolina. It was drizzling through the whole first half, and at halftime I went to the bathroom. When I came out, there was a downpour unlike any other I have ever been in. The rain was coming down harder and more dense than any shower I have ever taken. But something about it felt right, and it brought even more life to the student section. There was a new bond created from staying through the weather, and when the second half kicked off, I don't think I had ever felt so refreshed after drinking so much. The rain continued to pour throughout the game, and the more we played through it, the more we as fans took that game personally. There was a distinct chant of F*** You Spurrier that went on for several minutes. To add injury to insult, Les Miles called the same fake field goal play that Spurrier was famous for and we socred a touchdown. It was classic Les Miles, and is now often overlooked after everything else that happened that season.

After that game, I realized how brutal it is for opponents to play in Tiger Stadium and how vulgar the student section can get. Reading the backlash in the Reveille that week from all the ESPN people, LSU authorities, and angry parents who complained of the vulgarity in the stadium and the audio on TV demonstrated how personally LSU fans take the experience of playing there.

I know that it doesn't rank up there with the 07 Florida, 03 UGA and those type games but I remember my first SEC game against Tennessee in 2000. Place was unbelievable! Watched the game when we got home and when Toefield took off at the 3:00 mark for 75 yards, you couldn't even hear the announcers speak in to their microphones!

That Tennessee 2000 game was up there with those others you mentioned. The atmosphere was incredible. The Tiger fans were hungry and out to prove a point (the team as well).

I've got goosebumps just thinking about it.

this. still the loudest i've experienced, though some of the recent bama games were impressive

“Tiger Stadium is haunted and all the ghosts favor the home team.”
-- Famed writer and former LSU player John Ed Bradley

“You know what? I wish I had about 10 snaps left in this body. I’d love to pull the 94 out and suit up for about 10 snaps because there’s no better atmosphere. I’ve played in a lot of NFL stadiums, I’ve played in some Super Bowls, but there’s no atmosphere that I’ve ever been a part of in my life like the one in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.”
-- Former LSU All-American Anthony “Booger” McFarland

Remember it well. It was the week after UAB.
All that week, a Knoxville News Sentinel writer wrote articles about the 'Death of Death Valley'.
The build-up and pregame atmoshphere was historic - near USC '79 levels.
We made his story about as credible as breasts on a totem pole, as humility to an alashama fan.

2009 Florida was deafening. We lost, typical Meyer bullshite...center turning his head to tip off snap count and a ridiculous no call on offensive holding by a Gator WR that went for a TD. Meyer said on espn during his sabbatical that he took his headset off to take in the crowd and he said it was so loud that he looked down at his khakis and they were vibrating from the noise. He said he'd never experienced anything like that anywhere, not even the Swamp, which he said he thought was the loudest place in America.

SVP---"if you never been there, don't talk"
We are so fortunate to be there for every home game! We've been to many away games, but nothing else compares to: "when the sun has set in the Western Sky, It's Saturday Night in Tiger Stadium"!

2003 UGA game.

UGA scored on a 90+ yard screen pass and instead of deflating, the crowd in TS got jacked and started cheering louder and you could physically see the players get lifted by it. Needless to say, one sweet Mauck to Green TD pass later, LSU got a marquee win enroute to a NC.
