And you mentioned that people in Lafayette hate UL (wrong). The irony is that most students at UL were once NOT students at UL and are from Acadiana. So they just decided that they like UL, enrolled in UL, and started hating LSU? Doesn’t make sense.

The thread is about “Favorite and least favorite La school”, and we can see that most of the responses are from non-Acadiana folks judging by their “other” favorite school.
The primary justification for this hate is because they think UL fans hate LSU.
That’s absolutely false with the exception of very few.
My point is that UL fans are for the most part LSU fans too. UL fans are also more culturally aligned with LSUs “Cajun” brand & culture. They are the same people. The Acadiana region that centers in Lafayette and fades towards Lake Charles and fades west of BR.
You won’t find UT stuff in College Station. I’m sure you won’t find Bama stuff in Auburn. Lafayette is filled with LSU merch and a community representation of both.
Fake made up rivalry…

It’s matching from a business perspective. If a Louisiana business supports only LSU or UL-Land doesn’t support both, they will naturally lose “fan-base” customers. Nothing made up about business.
Also, UL-L fans are graduates or are from Acadiana area. LSU fans pull fans from all over. Nothing made up about that either.

I do not understand all the hate for UL-L. Although their marketing themselves as "Louisiana" does annoy me.

Favorite outside LSU is LA Tech…my son goes there and least would be ULaLa
Don’t really consider Tech to be in competition with LSU really as they are by no means in that conservation
I do pull for them though every time they play

LSUs national identity and cultural branding is Cajun culture. LSUs branding is much more in line with the people of Acadiana (that love LSU) than Nola, Monroe, or LC.
Many of the kids that grow up in Acadiana loving LSU eventually attend UL. They don’t just start hating LSU. Most UL fans are also LSU fans.
