Part of that had to do with Laettner being on a much better team.

And laettner being more refined and polished at that age

Shaq and Laettner based on their college skills is near a push

You’re right. LSU’s starting 5 would win it all. Not sure why they’re not a #1 seed and the experts didn’t pick them to have the best starting 5 of all time. You know more.

Shaq and Pistol and then what? Chris Jackson was better than Jason Williams?
Bob Petit was better than Christian Latener?
Who’s guarding Grant Hill?

True. Shaq was still pretty raw when he left LSU.

wonder if other fan bases have fans that try to marginalize "their team's" accomplishments as much as LSU fans do? This guy isn't alone, but any topic, any sport regarding LSU someone has to roar in like Superman and demand everyone realize LSU is merely a polyester pull on the golf slacks of sports.

Man, an opinion really got to you, huh?

It’ll be okay. They’re not really going to play these games.

You realize LSU usually is anywhere from 2-4 all time on these lists right?

You realize the experts usually agree with us and not you right?

You realize how much of an ignorant turd you are being right?

Laettner got POY when he averaged 22 pts, 8 boards, 1 block a game while shooting 58% from the floor his senior year

Shaq's sophomore and junior years he averaged about 25+ pts, 14+ boards, 5+ blocks and shot over 62% from the floor

I mean...

That mature response hurts.

I never said they would get blown out. Relax.
If they played it 10 times, which I think this argument has come up more than 10 times and they don’t always pick the same team,LSU would pull off a few, of course.

Again, the mature responses are hurtful.

I’m just basing an opinion off the same facts people are presenting.
Why such an attack on a opinion? I know you’re an LSU fan. You’ll pick LSU everytime. I get that. I’m just throwing out another opinion. Get a grip.

Shaq- college national player of the year

Pistol- all time college scoring leader

Chris Jackson- 2x all american, national freshman of the year, ncaa freshman scoring record

Bob Petit- 2x all american, made him #2 pick in draft

Ben Simmons- all american and first pick in draft

I concur with your list. Bench needs to have "Hot Plate" Williams, Rudy & Howard Carter.

Ummm......Absolutely. Without question.

I was a huge Jason Williams fan in middle school and chose his number as my number, but he isn’t close to Chris Jackson.

If Will Wade was coaching our team, I would be confident against every team except UCLA

I grew up watching both, religiously. I have to disagree on it’s not close. Other than that Jackson was incredible, I just think Williams was amazing as a freshmen.
At least these debates have me watching old college highlights of all the players mentioned so it’s a pretty good morning

I wonder what it would be like if Shaq and Laettner went head to head. Oh wait, they did in 1992

Laettner - 8-21 (38%) 22 pts; 10 rebounds; 3 asst., 0 blocks; 5 TO's

Shaq - 11-21 (52%) 25 pts; 12 rebounds; 2 asst., 7 blocks; 3 TO's

Laettner came on in the end, but for the most part Shaq dominated him.

An all time LSU team would have a backcourt of two of the greatest scorers in college basketball history: Maravich (44.2 ppg) and Jackson (29.0 ppg) coupled with arguably the most physically dominant Center since Wilt Chamberlain (though Alcindor and Walton were more skilled). Couple that with one of the greatest power forwards of his era (Pettit) who averaged 27/14 in the 1950's!

Then, for good measure, throw in Simmons who rebounded nearly as well as Shaq/Pettit AND passed as well as Jackson/Maravich.

There are programs who could likely match or best LSU in the frontcourt (UCLA, Georgetown, maybe UNC). But NO ONE could run out a combination of guards (from a scoring perspective) to match LSU.

I agree with you, BUT, when Shaq and Laettner met on the court in college it was Shaq who ended up with the short end of the stick. Shaq claims he has never been more frustrated

12 teams seeded below LSU in this bracket have won national Titles. 5 teams,NC State,Villanova,Louisville,Florida and Cincinnati have won multiple titles.

What is amusing is Arkansas is a 7 seed. Some of the Hogs on the SEC Rant think Arkansas is basketball royalty and held in the same regard as UCLA,North Carolina and Kentucky. LSU is 4 slots over them.

But I'm sure LSU Cajun 77 would assure them Pat Bradley would school Maravich in H-O-R-S-E.

Which part of any of what I said would make you “assume” that?

If Arkansas fans believe they should be loyalty, then put UNLV in and watch their, mostly one team destroy Arky’s “All-Time” team.

LSU hasn’t the second best talent of all time.

Dale Brown’s legacy was an amazing final four run and landing Shaq. That is it. Basically just like Brady. One great run and a lot of disappointment.

LSU coaching would be hard pressed to make the tournament. (Will Wade has too small of a resume to be considered)
