My family attended the LSU-La Tech game...I am an alum and my son is a current student at LSU. We are not season ticket holders since we now live in another state.
I couldn't believe some of the fans! It is natural to stand up when a great play or a touchdown is made, right? Everytime we would jump up (and everyone in front of us did too) - the 2 guys behind us would yell for everybody to sit down! One was short and one had a bad knee. They made us totally miserable with negativity and complaints! There was a 10 year old seated next to us - it was his first LSU game - he was cheering a lot and these guys kept telling the kid to shut up! Come on....We are all on the same side! Don't ruin the game for people around you by being a complainer!...Oh, the worst part is he was spitting chewed up popcorn and throwing food at people..

That's worthy of a severe arse whooping. Even if it wasn't my kid, I would've said or done something. No tolerance for that shite.

Unfortunately you had a bad experience but most fans are not like that. Of course if you block someone's view the entire game they might get ticked, especially if they cannot stand. But to stand and cheer on big plays is part of the game day experience.

Don't let this one experience dictate your future attendance at games.

agreed...telling me to sit down is fine, as I will sit if and when I feel like doing so. however, being rude to a child who is doing nothing wrong simply because an individual thinks he can get away with it as an adult needs to be dealt with.

I've encountered these people way too many times. Usually just ignore the miserable sins of bitches but one literally started cursing because I was getting to excited and making too much noise. At that point I kindly suggested that he might enjoy watching the game at home better.... seriously. I have no clue why these people come to the stadium

We've had one experience with a legit old a-hole season ticket holder. Guy sat two rows behind us and had those seats as long as we had ours, so at least 20 years. 1 game some teenagers sat between our two rows and he must have been having a bad night or something, because he gave them hell all game and wouldn't let them stand for anything. The kids weren't being obnoxious or anything. After one big play, the old bastard ruined the celebration and nearly lost his mind on the kids for standing up. My uncle had enough and got in the guys face and told him to leave the kids the hell alone. Old dude got the marshals/sheriff, but everyone in the section told them the old dude was out of line. He got told to shut up or leave, and he got a call from LSU the next week. He was on his best behavior the rest of the year, but must have given up his tickets after that, because I haven't seen him in a while.

Funny that a majority of your post history has some complaint about the fans.

Sorry, but I love LSU! I also see how the fans are at OSU. My husband is OSU alum. There is a huge difference in the atmosphere. For example, OSU spring game 70-100K fans show up to support the team. LSU 3K. OSU fans dont leave early. LSU half the stadium is empty at the end.OSU no obnoxious fans around. LSU -my last experience was not the greatest plus I saw 1 LSU fan punch out another LSU fan outside the stadium. Also, Saban is big on fan support staying for the whole game and pushes for attendance at the Spring game. Great fans make a difference

Hope you weren't jumping up DURING the play!
I don't mind standing for a play & don't mind sitting. But I hate when someone in front of me jumps up as a play is developing. Unless they are little ole ladies (like the one in front of me this year), after I miss the 3rd play I will politely explain the situation. If I miss more plays after that, I get real cranky.

Those assholes are preventing that kid from doing his job. frick them, they're fired. I was loud af every game through HS. Once, and only once, the old guy that sat behind me grabbed my beltloop and sat me down b/c I jumped up on a long run. My dad turned around and said "touch my son again and I'll throw you down the stairs."

Fans have a job to do in the stands. Affect the outcome of the game by making the opponent uncomfortable and giving energy to your side. frick all those that just show up to be entertained with something to bitch about.

Should have videoed them being negative (especially towards 10 yr old) and posted it to social media.

Boom. Next thing you know, you and the 10 year old will be getting autographed balls and sideline passes

Between the cost of attending a game and jackarses like yourself, you fools continue to question why people stop coming to the games. If a big play is happening, you better believe I'm going to be standing up, cheering my lungs off, shooting off high fives to anyone around. If you don't like that people are showing some emotion IN THE STADIUM maybe it's time to reconsider buying those tickets. Everyone is quick to bitch that the atmosphere in Tiger Stadium isn't what it "used to be." However you're quick to point fingers at people who are into the game standing and making noise and quick to bitch about students leaving.

Geaux kick rocks.

Not all, but A LOT are. I find it hard to convince myself to go into the games these days because of these old bags who complain about EVERYTHING.

The best thing to do is act like you didn’t hear their comments and continue cheering.

If it continues, tell them you have every right to cheer for your team and if they don’t like it, go get an usher.
