He couldnt do any worse than what we have The problem is he will never get a chance cause miles is one of those coaches who will stick with his starter no matter how bad he is.. He could be another brees and would still never see the field .. if my son were a qb he would never play in a system like this one ...

We're a much better evaluator of talent than the coaching staff at the 118 other D1 schools that didn't offer him a scholarship. Especially when the kid is from Baton Rouge.

Rantards

He doesn't have to be a world beater out there right now.
He just has to intelligently lead the offense and have some level of athleticism.
That, in itself, would be an improvement on the last two years.
You said it all right there.

I believe this business about no offers to be BS, but I will confirm.

My 2 cents (perhaps worth a cent and a half) is that Bailey has worked hard enough and committed himself enough to hang around. Walk-on or not, the kid is a loose number 3 right now, depending on the true freshman coming in. If he continues to prepare every day as if he may have to step in and take over, it will be ok. Kid is smart enough and has the physical skills enough to play. Maybe not a star-stud, but we have won games with less and lost games with more.

You never know. Baily has the physical ability as does Jordan Jefferson, Jarrett Lee, and Russell Shepard. The question is can he handle the mental part of QB? That is what has been lacking at LSU.
That's huge not having a QB with game-smarts like LSU does. Throw shitty coaching into the mix like LSU has, and we'll never play in the SECCG again.

a lot of talent and no D1A offers
How many offers did Drew Brees get? Sometimes you have a take a gamble on a player, who knows how he may turn out. As of right now, he is our number 3.

The first part of your post had me a bit optimistic, but then you had to go and ruin it with this statement.

According to Miles, "These other two guys (walk-on quarterbacks Barrett Bailey and TC McCartney) would be just as capable as that."
He was referring to Zach Lee.
Apparantly Bailey and McCartney should have been four star recruits as well.

He was recruited by some d1 schools, maybe no offers because he wouldn't leave BR . Just goes to show how people here ignore facts, to further their own agendas. Must have a lot of future politicians on the rant.

He was good enough apparently to hold back ULL QB signee Blake Hollingsworth from starter until he was a senior at U High.

From ESPN website.
"Bailey is an under-the-radar prospect as a pocket passer with very good size, solid arm strength, very good accuracy and a nice feel for timing. He is a fundamentally sound guy that displays good footwork, good drop speed and a balanced set-up within the pocket. Is at his best working..."
Pocket passer - which is more than can be said about Jefferson.

Don't really think comparing Brees and Bailey works out for arguements sake. Bailey did have some interested D1 schools but apparently he did not get any offers.

If he can step up in the pocket and know where all of his receivers are at ...he has my vote..

So now he is better than Jefferson? WOW! LSU must have the greatest 2nd and 3rd team QB's in the history of college football. They are always better than the starter. At least in Rantville they are.
