This attitude from some academics baffles my mind. One need only look over two states to Alabama to see the huge positive effect that athletic success can bring to the university as a whole.

Yep. I sent him an email once asking if he thinks anyone would ever mention LSU if the athletic department ceased to exist. He sent back a reply about how the university needed to work as hard on its academic brand as it does on its athletic brand. And went on about coaches salaries rising faster than teacher’s salaries. He 100% has a little disdain for the athletic department.

F King isn’t even a real academic. He’s never even been a tenured faculty member.
He got his first president of a university gig after taking over for his freaking dad.
Guy’s actual PHD is in higher ed administration. Let that sink in. His entire education wa purely built around him being given a job he is not qualified for.
Telling other real faculty how things in a university should be run.

I don't know if this is true or not.
But if it is, he is at the wrong school. Yes obviously academics are important, but you have to also be aware how important sports are at LSU as well.

Anyone that pretends LSU Athletics is not a major driving force toward enrollment is a damn fool.

Id wager it would have much less impact on enrollment than cancelling academics. C'mon now. It's still a college.
