re: Explain to me why Woodward is a great AD.

The school already gets a shite-load of money from athletics. Just not in the form of a direct transfer. Rather, it’s in the form of exposure. Our athletics program is by far our most effective recruiting program, and we don’t need to add a physical cash transfer program on top of that to get our money’s worth out of our athletic success.

Who hired Johnny Jones?

Alleva was terrible at getting everyone working in a common direction. He lacked communication skills and didn’t understand the culture of LSU.
Scott has everyone pulling in the same direction and fully understands the need buy in from all parties.

What this article tells me is that all the Joe Alleva defenders who tried to claim that he was only doing what F King Alexander wanted...talking point obliterated.
Alexander is still the schools president, a new Ad comes in and he severs financial ties between athletic donations and the University. No more holding the athletic department hostage for the University's overall budget woes. No more red herrings.
So it wasn't Alexander. It was Joe Alleva. He was a spineless, bean counter cuck.

Because he doesn't call unnecessary press conferences and sticking his nose in business it doesn't belong. If he does stick his nose in it, we don't hear about it. The previous AD had a knack for calling stupid press conferences and coming out of them looking worse than before them.
This. Big time. Woodward seems to have a knack for working behind the scenes, which is a good thing. He's widely regarded as one of the best ADs in the SEC and he's buddies with the NCAA's head honcho. His first big test will be how he handles the Joe Brady situation, particularly if we lose Jorge Munoz to Oregon.

Well for one he screwed aTm with a lame coach at a ridiculous cost. So that part of the plan is working

Yep hored O, because he fu led up the situation so bad he had no other choice, stop kidding yourself in believing O was who Alleva wanted. Just like 90% of the fanbase ,o was a last resort hire.
Yes he hired Wade, and reading his comments he now wishes he hasn't, and likely would have fired him had he been allowed to stay after over reacting to the court room bullshite.
Alleva fell into the O hire and would have screwed up the Wade deal. He was a fricking hack and I'm glad he is gone

Alleva was going to fire Wade. Crazy. His other 2 basketball hires were Trent Johnson and Johnny Jones. Disaster. So glad Alleva is gone

Because he talks like us.
Alleva wasn't so bad, given the political meddling his job is subject to, but he was arrogant and had poor skills in communicating with/ relating to others. He was not from Louisiana and was never really fit in here.
Scott, just the opposite. Louisiana roots and contacts.

He’s yet to make his mark here. I do know he’s working closely with WW to get his offices in the new facility. The fact his first big thing was to take away the automatic academic contribution was telling. IMO he needs to fix the PMAC immediately.

Put compliance in charge and saved possible sanctions. WW made a decision, ignorantly, which shone a bad light on LSU. LSU escaped any sanctions because compliance was let in. Period

: duke rape fiasco
Letting the evidence and things play out in criminal cases is ALWAYS the best way thru. NC, black, female....it was a case that had no win written all over it without the process. If the LSU football team had strippers over tonight and several had sex, and the girls claimed rape...you think Woodward would let those who had sex play? If so, you're a moron of epic proportions

Manieri is the one who needs to look out. Woodward isn't going to put up with this mediocre bullshite that he's become accustomed to putting on the field for our baseball team. Woodward is going to fire his arse really soon if this season isn't turned around by manieri...just watch. He knows what our fans are thinking and what we expect and will get the job done.
he was the first one i thought of when woodward was hired... if Texas came a calling again. (which they could after this year) Woodward would tell him to take a hike. Maneri is identical to Les Miles. Maneri has been successful because of LSU, not the other way around... There are many other coaches in the country that could do what he has done... LSU Baseball needs a tough a-hole as BB coach, not a "players" coach... Sullivan at florida would kill it here...

i think the PMAC is in a great location but could be put further south by the rec fields with ample parking.... it either needs to be completely renovated or torn down with another one built... LSU could legitimately become a basketball school if you invest in new facilities and keep Wade. we could be top 10 every year in the big three sports... that brings in a ton a revenue. im a huge baseball guy but basketball can make more money for the athletic dept if its given the proper facilities... its proven you can recruit here. kids dont have to go up north and I think the old SEC commissioner made it a priority to get basketball popular again in the south because of the possible TV deals... March Madness is a 6 Billion dollar deal for the next decade.

It's hilarious how Alleva said he wanted to keep Les over hiring Jimbo then the next paragraph said Les wasted a ton of players, the program was stale, and he fired him 4 games into the next season. If Les did all that why did you keep him for 4 extra games? Alleva should just jerk himself off for O, the graduation rate, and facilities but he's terrible at PR.
Posted on 1/10/20 at 10:06 am to saintsfan22
From what I heard from R. Lipsey, Alleva's problem was his autocratic attitude. He didn't mingle with the big boosters and donors, he pretty much kept to himself. He didn't have a personal relationship with any of his coaches, rarely met with them and only when there were problems.
A lot of people judge an AD on the coaches he hires, that's very important, but it is an infrequent part of the job. The AD is a huge business, the director is the CEO, he has to be able to work with people to fulfill that role.

I think the fact that we don’t think/talk about the AD speaks for itself.
