If he doesn’t want his peccadillos exposed he will agree to a lower buyout.

He’s not backtracking.
Everything he says is calculated and a PR move.
He says that statement to make folks think, wow, what a stand up guy.
But he knew all along he’s getting the full amount, period.
Kelly is the biggest sleezebag in sports. Did you really think he was going to take less than he was promised?

Only thing I would negotiate is the date each payment is to be made and to which account

If someone owed you $54 million, would you take less? The answer is no.

“open to negotiate” does not mean “take whatever offer LSU throws out”

Because he clearly failed ABYSMALLY, so if he had any integrity as a man, he'd stop stealing from us. He clearly took the job then half assed it. He's pure scum. It's amazing how that doesn't bother some of you. He's a thief with no integrity.

This is stupid. Do you not understand how the termination for cause works?

If he gets another Job, LSU only owes the difference in salary from what he was getting here.
If he is planning on coaching again, he would be wise to negotiate a one time lump sum of 25-30 million.
Example. Lets say he goes to UCLA for 8 mill/year 5 year deal. He would only get 2 mill/yr from LSU. So in theory he would get 10ish mill from LSU.
If he negotiated the one time up front lump sum of 25 million, then he would get 25 mill + 8 mill/yr new job.
Over 5 years the difference in that scenario would be 65 million to 50 million.
If he doesn't want to coach again, then he should not settle

It is called the "present value of money".

Because we threaten him with the mafia
Posted on 11/9/25 at 7:46 pm to Tiger1242
Because we have justifiable cause. He ain’t getting more than he was offered.

The 54 is tied to an offset. If he gets a coaching job that pays 5 million a year, our payments would use the 5 million as an offset. If we do a negotiated buyout for 25 million, he gets the 25 million with no offset.
If he plans to coach again, he wants a buyout. If he is retiring, he will take all of his 54 million

Great explanation. He wants to coach again from my understanding. Like you said it allows him to maximize his money in his next contract.

Y’all have this backwards. If he plans to work again he is going to make 9.5 mil a year no matter what. He has no reason to accept any reduction if he plans to work for the next 6 years either way.
Nah. You got it backwards. If he doesn’t settle, and LSU continues his monthly payments, whatever he gets from his next school will subtracted, or fully cancel out what LSU owes him, depending on the amount.

Up front money.
Won’t have to subtract future income.
